tyrus Posted October 14, 2005 Report Posted October 14, 2005 i'm looking for two rooms in london (mayfair-soho).one for 8 nights (nov 17-25), and the other for 6 nights (nov 19-25).i have few questions....what would be a good starting bid?is there anyway to be sure of getting the same hotel for both rooms (other than breaking the 8-night stay into a 2-night followed by a 6-night stay)?lastly, are triples usually available (at a reasonable price).many thanks!
WillTravel Posted October 14, 2005 Report Posted October 14, 2005 You can't count on triples being available, nor being available at a reasonable price (I presume you mean as a paid upgrade to a Priceline bid).Perhaps Hotwire would work best for you, because you could specify triple occupancy and be more sure of getting the same hotel for both stays. (It's still possible two hotels could have exactly the same amenities and show up on separate searches when purchasing.)
tyrus Posted October 15, 2005 Author Report Posted October 15, 2005 looking for 1 room nov 19-25, and 1 room nov 20-23....first i got 2 rooms nov 20-23 at $180.next, i got 1 room nov 19-20 at $170.still trying for 1 room nov 23-25...rejected up to $200. may consider a hotel change for the last two nights.many thanks for the site!! never would have tried priceline in the first place, let alone gotten this far without it.
thereuare Posted October 16, 2005 Report Posted October 16, 2005 Please start a new thread for the balance of your stay so that we can accurately reflect the hotel(s) won in the topic title.I'm assuming your bids above were not the first for each set of dates... do you recall the amount of your highest previously rejected zones? What did you decide regarding the triple occupancy situation... is that why you got two rooms or are you simply hoping for the best? tyrus Posted October 16, 2005 Author Report Posted October 16, 2005 these were my first sets of bids.i decided to upgrade to 5* from 4* and not to bother with a triple (my nephew lives in london and will host the overflow).i started nov 20-23 at $120 and kept adding non-5* areas until my $180 bid was accepted.for nov 19-20 i started a little higher ($140) and after just a couple of bids hit with $170.for the two nights, nov 23-25, i was rejected at $210 and i'm considering what to do.
