Margie Posted August 13, 2013 Report Posted August 13, 2013 I've been bidding through the links on the board for an upcoming stay in NYC. Today I checked out the Express Deals, and using the code BigCity6 to save an additional 10%, I just might give up on bidding and book one tonight. Can you help identify these hotels?August 16-21, 5 nights2 RoomsHell's Kitchen3 stars$156 / per room, per night.guest score 7free breakfastfree internetbusiness centerfitness centerAlso, I am guessing that this next option is the Club Quarters Wall Street?August 16-21, 5 nights2 RoomsDowntown/Financial District3 1/2 stars$149 / per room, per nightguest score 8"guest favorite"free internet (mentioned in room description)business centerfitness centerbottled water mentioned in room description.I'm new to the Express Deals. If a hotel is offered as a PRICELINE EXPRESS Deal does that mean that there is a fairly good chance it will come up on a traditional Priceline bid? I have gotten counter offeres on both these locations and star levels today, I'm wondering if it's for the same hotels offered in the Express Deals? (Does this make sense?)Thanks for your help.
thereuare Posted August 14, 2013 Report Posted August 14, 2013 My best guess for the Hell's Kitchen property would be the Holiday Inn Express New York - Manhattan West Side. For the Downtown property, my guess would be the Club Quarters Wall Street. Each arm of PRICELINE's service (Bidding Name Your Own Price, Priceline Express, and Retail) each use a different universe of hotels, so the hotel you get thru PRICELINE express will not necessarily be the one that you receive by bidding. We have seen times when express deals end up being cheaper than the user would have been able to receive by bidding, especially when there is a discount offer available. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know what you decide and how it goes or if we can be of further help. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
Margie Posted August 15, 2013 Author Report Posted August 15, 2013 This was Express Deal booked through the links on this site and using the code BigCity6. Saved $450 (including tax) over the hotels website. I think this hotel was also on Hotwire, but the Express deal was still less expensive. The only amenity shown in the description was Fitness Center
Margie Posted August 15, 2013 Author Report Posted August 15, 2013 After a lot of bidding on this forum and a lot research, I took another PRICELINE EXPRESS Deal through the links here; Midtown West, 3 Star, only amenity listed was "fitness center". Got the Ameritania on West 54th for $164. With a discount using the code BigCity6, the total per room, per night, including taxes and fees is $182.Very pleased with this - for some reason (2 rooms? a longer stay?) even though hotels were not out of sight for my dates I just couldn't get a traditional win. Thanks for all the information provided on Better Bidding, I'll leave a review after our stay.
