Phaelon56
Planned a last minute trip for this weekend from NYC area to Buffalo. My GF made her own arrangements for our Saturday night lodging in Buffalo but I am handled Fri and Sun nights. Did a quick Hotwire check for the likely Syracuse suspects for Friday night, planning to stay over and drive to Buffalo in the early AM. Absolutely nothing available and further checks showed all major and even budget hotels sold out. Shifted the Friday stay to Rochester (see Hyatt winning bid posted below) and bid for Sunday night. Previous personal experience and research indicates that$45 is the bottom end winning bid for 3* in Syracuse. I prefer not to stay at the University Sheraton and don't bid on the zone that includes it. If I recall correctly, this limits me to two free rebids. First bid rejected at $45 and jumped straight to $50, no sense in trying to cut it too close when there's no 72 hour window left for new bid. Second bid at $50 and success! This is a very nice facility - I've stayed here before and actually prefer it just a tad to the Embassy Suites (only other 3* in that zone). Link to comment
