thereuare Posted July 24, 2013 Report Posted July 24, 2013 Welcome to BetterBidding! Please use the requested board links for your searches too.Is Soho the onlly zone you're willing to accept, as you an try, but based upon current my guess is that your $165 bid will fall a bit short.Using MAPS and HOTELS.com (you can search '1 mile from Soho, NYC') what is the best rate you're able to find at an acceptable 4* hotel for these dates? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... and please click each of these previous links before replying.Thanks. jdaltman9 Posted July 24, 2013 Author Report Posted July 24, 2013 I was trying to stay as close to Little Italy as possible - we are going for the Italian festival. A mile radius would be acceptable as we could walk there. We just stayed at the Waldorf Astoria this past weekend so I was trying to switch it up to a different location (Chinatown/SoHo).In using your search link the best price I could find within a mile radius of SoHo - Tribeca was $229 for a 4* and $409 for a 4.5*. If need be the budget could be increased, but I'm trying to get the best deal possible. Thanks for your help!
thereuare Posted July 24, 2013 Report Posted July 24, 2013 In using your search link the best price I could find within a mile radius of SoHo - Tribeca was $229 for a 4*...This rate i'm assuming is for the Millennium Hilton which is not in the Soho-Tribeca zone... looking at the Soho zone there are a few hotels in the $300's and then many more in the $400's, which is an indication that $165 is not likely going to be enough for a 4* hotel in this zone.If you include the Downtown-Financial District in your bidding could you accept a hotel anywhere within the zone?Unless you intend to make frequently trips back-and-forth between your hotel and the San Gennaro Festival, i don't think you necessarily need to stay in the immediate area... i would sooner find the best deal possible in the city, then do as a New Yorker and take the subway to wherever you need to go during your trip.Let us regarding any other zone(s) you're willing to accept and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. jdaltman9 Posted July 25, 2013 Author Report Posted July 25, 2013 A hotel anywhere in the Downtown-Financial area or SoHo - Tribeca zone would be acceptable.I'd be willing to spend up to $190 to get a 5* in the financial district. I saw someone recently booked the Conrad for $207 on a Priceline Express Deal.
thereuare Posted July 25, 2013 Report Posted July 25, 2013 What do you want to try for first... a 5* in the Downtown or Soho zones? Is that the first plan of action? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. jdaltman9 Posted July 25, 2013 Author Report Posted July 25, 2013 I would like to try for a 5* in SoHo or Downtown financial with max spend being $190/night and if need be fall back on to a 4* at max spend $165/night.
thereuare Posted July 25, 2013 Report Posted July 25, 2013 When bidding 5* in New York City you have TEN re-bid zones. If the above is rejected is a 5* not worth the $207 it is currently offered for on PRICELINE EXPRESS (less the 5* discount code link in my signature gets you very close to your $190 bid price). If you want to downgrade the star rating from here, did you want to try for a 4.5* property first or drop to the 4* level? Are both zones still acceptable at the 4.5* and/or 4* levels? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
