vishals Posted September 28, 2005 Report Posted September 28, 2005 HiI am looking for a 4* from 10/8 to 10/10 (2 nights) in Newcastle-upon-Tyne in UK, in the central region. (There are two regions - Central & Airport)I started with a pretty low bid - GBP 30, but got a reject. Now since I dont have a choice in the area, I changed the dates 10/8 to 10/9, thinking that if I can get through in that, I can very well try the next day as well. Ofcourse, the assumption was that there would be just 1 4* in this region! This bid was for GBP 35 but that got rejected. Now I am waiting for the 72 hours to finish so that I can try again. Any suggestions on what should be the bid amount? Thanks
Blueskies Posted September 28, 2005 Report Posted September 28, 2005 I think you may just be too low for the weekend as Laterooms.com shows rates high on 8th. Hotwire don't appear to cover Newcastle. You may have more luck getting the 9th with that sort of budget but I still think that is low for a 4*. Also I cannot see a win reported anywhere for Priceline in Newcastle so maybe this is because the price level is beyond what you may imagine or perhaps no one has tried or its just become a Priceline city.I now know why you may have a problem - there is a celeb football match on that weekend in the city. Sunday 9th at 8pm. Are you attending?Expedia has Copthorne by the Quayside for
vishals Posted September 29, 2005 Author Report Posted September 29, 2005 Hi BlueSkiesThe diagnosis could not have been more accurate. I went ahead with the booking on the 9th October, and got a 4* (Newcastle Marriott MetroCenter) for a
103brandy Posted October 2, 2005 Report Posted October 2, 2005 Hi Vishals,Marriott Metro Centre is not in Newcastle. It's next to Dunston, on the outskirts of Gateshead. A bus or taxi ride away. Definitely not Newcastle Centre. The Metro Centre is a huge shopping mall. Plenty of restaurants, bars , cinemas etc etc. but nothing else around there.Hope it works well for you.
