odowdchr Posted September 25, 2005 Report Posted September 25, 2005 11/1 - 11/11 (10nights) Downtown Vancouver 4*2 rooms.Published Rates:Marriott Pinnacle $169Sheraton WallCentre $166I did this a few years ago, roughly same dates and got a great deal at the Pinnacle for 7 nights, am just a bit wary about trying 10nights for 2 rooms. Can anyone offer advice on a strategy?
thereuare Posted September 26, 2005 Report Posted September 26, 2005 You have three re-bid zones available at the 4* level in this area and i would bid as follows, given the low rates and the time before your stay:Select 4* Vancouver...Bid $50, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $55, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $60, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $65Feel free to ask any questions you may have.Good Luck and let us know how it goes. odowdchr Posted September 28, 2005 Author Report Posted September 28, 2005 Hi, bit of a delay while I booked flights.I'm bidding for other people on this try, a nearly identical bid as 2 years ago. Last time, the winning bid was an incredible $42 US for the Marriott Pinnacle at this time (converted from UK Pounds), so you can imagine they were anxious for me to try the same again ! I did......going from $40 up to $48 and got rejected each time.I'll leave it the 72 hours and then try to push them up a bit. If they won't go higher I'll have to drop the star rating. Thanks!
odowdchr Posted October 20, 2005 Author Report Posted October 20, 2005 Ok, have been bidding on this as advised.3 sets of bids over the last few weeks.Tried all 3 free rebid zones and have gradually gone from $50 up to $70.Nothing doing yet.Could it be the 2 rooms for 10 nights? Might i be better splitting into 2 bids for 5 nights (can't do less than 2 rooms) ?
WillTravel Posted October 20, 2005 Report Posted October 20, 2005 Yes, the 10-day stay could make it more difficult for sure. I'd try the 5-day split.
