Hi, please help us with bidding with Priceline for: one room, 4 star hotel for 10/14-10/18

What should we plan to spend on a room? I was thinking avg. $150/night.

I am wanting the cleanest room possible :)

Thank you in advance for your time! Katherine

Katherine,

If cleanest is what you want then I think you should do your homework on a Vegas Hotel Review site like Tripadvisor before bidding. You should be ok with higher grade hotels but you must know that you just have to take the hotel they give you and being clean would be accepted generally but if you're fussy then you would be better to check that all the 4 stars reported appear to be up to your standard.

Are you willing to split your bid and risk changing hotels?

Are you dates flexible and do you have a cancellable back up yet?

Do you need to be on the strip?

Have you looked at Hotwire?

Welcome to BetterBidding!

Do you have any experience with a 4* hotel in Las Vegas that was not clean? What would be an example of a 4* hotel that you would not consider to be clean? I'm just a bit taken aback from your comments as i think that the upper tier hotels in Vegas are some of the nicest in the country (for the price paid).

Thank you for your response.

I have only been to Vegas once and had a great time. We stayed at the MGM, but that was years ago. Recently, it seems that hotels in other cities have gotten so dirty. Really though it was just a light hearted comment as I have not had experience with LV hotels in years.

My days are not flexible.

I do not wish to change hotels.

I do not have a backup.

Yes, I would like to be on the strip.

Thanks again- Katherine

Without splitting your bid this will likely cost you more than it otherwise would if you were willing to split.

What i believe to be Ballys seems to be available for $154 while what is believed to be the MGM is available for $158... both of these are before taxes and fees (didn't know if your $150 figure above was net of taxes and fees or not). There is also the Monte Carlo for $190/nite... do any of the above appeal to you? (or do you want to re-considering splitting your stay?)

Thank you again!

So I talk to my husband to try to get more info on what he is thinking... he has thought of splitting our stay. He mentioned Sun Mon nights at the (2*ugh) Sahara hotel for $99.00 a night per the website and doing Friday and Saturday night somewhere else via Priceline.

I have read the reviews on the Sahara and it does not sound like a place that "fussy" me would enjoy or stay at :)

So, could you give me your thoughts if we did split the 2 nights up.

I really appreciate your insight and am sorry to be waffling on our plans. Katherine

If you want the Sahara for Sunday and Monday nites you can book it HERE for $46/nite.

You could then add some sort of 4* in the $185/nite range, bringing your average cost for all the nites closer to $110/nite.

There are a few different ways you can head with this, but i'm not sure what you're goal is here... is it the lowest price possible (and possibly staying at a place like the Sahara, which is not really what most consider to be 'the strip') or are you looking for a higher class of hotel?

For the first two nites of your stay you can choose from:

Excalibur for $184/nite (not really a 4* but maybe it will do?)

Treasure Island for $199/nite

For the last two nites of your stay see this MGM LAS VEGAS DEAL (you'll have to join their Players Club to be eligible for the promo).

What also appears to be the MGM is on Hotwire for ~$185/nite, so if you are interested in the MGM for the 2nd half of your stay and don't want to change properties, you could purchase what is believed to be the MGM on Hotwire and then have a continuous stay at the same hotel.

How does the above work for you?
