benoit Posted September 24, 2005 Report Posted September 24, 2005 Hello again,As previously mentionned I am splitting my bid for a trip to N-Y 10/27 to 10/31.I already got a room for the sunday nightNow, I still need to book:- 1 room for 27/10- 2 rooms for 28 et 29/10I already bidded up to $160 on MTW, MTE, UM/CPS without much success.I cannot really go higher for these nights, so three possibilities:- I restart with 4 stars in other areas of NY (I don't know NY much so I would appreciate some help here happy.gif)- I look for 3 stars hotels in the previous areas (MTW, MTE and UM/CPS)- I look for cheaper hotels in New Jersey (that's also a possibility but I have NO idea which city is the closet to NY - BY CAR)Any ideas on a new bidding strategy would be much appreciated :) Ben
Blueskies Posted September 24, 2005 Report Posted September 24, 2005 Are you driving to New York that you have a car with you?have you considered where you will park your car? I know it can be very expensive.May be better to park further out and take public transportation. This may well effect your next bid.
thereuare Posted September 24, 2005 Report Posted September 24, 2005 Since you're seeking a different number of rooms for each nite this will need to be done in two separate bids, so let's use this thread for 10/28-10/30 (2 rooms) and start one more NEW TOPIC for the nite of 10/27.Will you indeed have a car, and if so, where are you from? (as this will help determine the viability of some of the non-NYC options) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
benoit Posted September 25, 2005 Author Report Posted September 25, 2005 As I said previously, it's a it complicated :) My parents are from France and will be on their own the first night 10/27 (that's why I'm looking for a room in NYC for that night). On the 10/28~29 they will be joined by an American friend that is driving from Penstate College. She knows NY well I think.(As for me I live in Bangkok, Thailand, I'm just taking care of their reservation here :) )I'm not sure if that helps.
benoit Posted September 27, 2005 Author Report Posted September 27, 2005 I will probably try to book in Jersey city for these two nights Oct. 28/29.What is the best hotel over there? What should be my target price on priceline? Thank you :)
thereuare Posted September 27, 2005 Report Posted September 27, 2005 The Hyatt is the nicest hotel in that area.I would first try 3* Jersey City and bid $93. This will likely be rejected (so if you're in a hurry you may want to skip this bid)... wait 72 hours and try $115.Good Luck and let us know how it goes. benoit Posted September 27, 2005 Author Report Posted September 27, 2005 Thank you. The first bid at $93 failed. I'll give you the next result in 72 hours.
benoit Posted September 30, 2005 Author Report Posted September 30, 2005 Bid $115 on 9/30 3* Jersey City... No success either. I guess I can wait 72 hours, but then what should I bid... 120? 130?
thereuare Posted September 30, 2005 Report Posted September 30, 2005 Re-post in 72 hours and we'll look at rates then so we'll know that they're current. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases

thereuare Posted October 3, 2005 Report Posted October 3, 2005 I would try bidding $125 and increase $10 every 72 hours thereafter... until a maximum of $145-$150. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
