yellowdog Posted June 26, 2013 Report Posted June 26, 2013 Welcome to BetterBidding :) Please change the drop down menu on the top right of HOTWIRE page to United States and the currency dropdown to US Dollars. Then continue to search HOTWIRE and post to the board in US Dollars so that rates are consistent and not subject to interpretation due to future currency fluctuation. Once you're ready to purchase stay on the US version of their site and simply change the drop down menu to whatever currency you'd like to use and complete your purchase.Using the method above what is the room rate per nite in US Dollars? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your purchases and searches.Yellowdog.PS. Please don't copy/paste to your thread... post only the amenity names (and not the descriptions) as it will make your post easier to read and help minimize the chance that we miss an amenity when researching your trip.

MC1684 Posted July 1, 2013 Author Report Posted July 1, 2013 Hi,Looking at booking a 4 Star or above from Oct 9-13. Areas include Times Square, Mid Town East, Mid Town West. Like to bid between $150-$200. Is this realistic? When is the best time to book for these dates? Thanks!I have clicked the PRICELINE QuickQuote link above.
thereuare Posted July 1, 2013 Report Posted July 1, 2013 Please keep all posts for the same stay in the same thread. At the moment current rates would imply that it will take a little more than $200/nite to win a 4* hotel in one of these zones for your dates. As you have some time between now and your arrival, you could start with a goal/maximum bid of $200/nite, then if not successful in a few months gradually increase your maximum bid (or lower your star rating and/or consider other nearby zones). For more on timing your bid see the related 'Bid Early or Cloe to Check-in' link in our PRICELINE FAQ.In addition to the zones above, CPS, ESB, and/or MSG are frequently bid and generally considered well located for the average visitor... is there a reason why you're excluding these other zones? Are your dates above now firm? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. MC1684 Posted July 1, 2013 Author Report Posted July 1, 2013 Sorry - just realized moments before your reply that I created this post in an old thread I had submitted. Please advise if I should start a new thread.Travel dates, Oct 9-13 are now firm. Would like to be close to Times Square area in NYC. We are first time visitors, and our purpose for the trip is to tour/sight see/shop, take in a few shows/nice restaurants. If you recommend including CPS, ESB, and MSG in my bidding strategy, I will do so.Thanks for the advice!
thereuare Posted July 2, 2013 Report Posted July 2, 2013 We likely merged your two threads... please keep all posts for this same stay in the same thread. If you ultimately use PRICELINE this thread with automatically be moved to that section of the board once you use the EDIT TO REPORT WIN button on the lower right corner of this page.At the 4* level I feel comfortable with any of the zones suggested (MTE, MTW, TS, CPS, ESB, MSG) but ultimately it's your stay and you are the one that needs to be comfortable with the zones that are selected and the possibilities within them. See our comments in this Hotels Near Times Square thread and then also see the Priceline Hotel List for the 'known' hotels reported to the board at the 4* level level in each of these zones. Please confirm that you are ok with any of these zones (or let us know if there are any that you would like to exclude) and we'll advise accordingly. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. MC1684 Posted July 20, 2013 Author Report Posted July 20, 2013 Hi - back again, still looking to book for this trip. Our revised dates are Oct 9 - 12 (confirmed). Budget is $275 tax and fees included for a 4* in the previously discussed zones (MTE, MTW, TS, CPS, ESB, MSG). Would also consider Downtown-Soho but only if there is no chance to get a 4* in our preferred zones within budget, as I know from reading other posts this is a more expensive time of year in NYC.If you could advise on a bidding strategy it would be much appreciated. Thanks!
thereuare Posted July 20, 2013 Report Posted July 20, 2013 When bidding 4* in NYC you have TWO re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 4* MTE, MTW, TS...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 4* CPS, ESB, MSG...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 4* CPS, MTW, TS...Bid $150, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $155, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $160, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 4* MTE, ESB, MSG...Bid $150, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $155, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $160, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 4* MTE, ESB, TS...Bid $165, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $170, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $175, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 4* CPS, MTW, MSG...Bid $165, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $170, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $175, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 4* MTE, MTW, MSG...Bid $180, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $185, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $190, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 4* CPS, ESB, TS...Bid $180, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $185, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $190, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 4* MTE, MTW, MSG, CPS...Bid $195, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $200, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $205, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 4* MTE, MTW, MSG, ESB...Bid $195, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $200, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $205, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 4* MTE, MTW, MSG, TS...Bid $195, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $200, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $205, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 4* MTE, MTW, TS, ESB, MSG...Bid $210, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $213, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $215, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 4* MTE, MTW, TS, ESB, CPS...Bid $210, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $213, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $215, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 4* MTE, MTW, TS, CPS, MSG...Bid $218, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $220, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $223, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 4* MTE, MTW, TS, CPS, MSG...Bid $218, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $220, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $223, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 4* MTE, MTW, TS, CPS, MSG, ESB...Bid $225, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $228, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $230Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes.
