KAOS Posted September 20, 2005 Report Posted September 20, 2005 I already have a 2* regular booking for a downtown hotel at $80 a night, but I'd like to save some money and get a PL booking for around $60 a night or less. Three stars or better would be preferred. These are my preferred areas:Fisherman's WharfUSEUSWThese areas are acceptable:Cathedral Hill Civic Center Area The airport, Marin County and S. SF are not acceptable. My four star/boutique $65 Fisherman's Wharf and USE/USW bids have already been rejected, but there are losts of re-bidding opportunities. There will two people in the room, requiring separate beds. I have been at this for three bidding rounds with no luck. It seems harder to get a room for 4 nights and a weekend stay. Please advise. Thanks.
thereuare Posted September 21, 2005 Report Posted September 21, 2005 There will two people in the room, requiring separate bedsYou can't guarantee two beds in the room with Priceline... is this a deal breaker to you moving forward? KAOS Posted September 21, 2005 Author Report Posted September 21, 2005 I hadn't thought about it that way. I definitely need two separate beds, and would prefer to bid in zones that guarantee this.
Blueskies Posted September 21, 2005 Report Posted September 21, 2005 Hotwire allows you to indicate occupancy but Priceline does not no matter what zone. I would take a look at Hotwire and remember to use the coupon if you have an Entertainment Book and I think there is still a coupon code going around for first time users. This would be safer or of course you could stick with your current booking. If you go down Hotwire route put 3 persons in no of persons so that ensures 2 beds.
KAOS Posted September 21, 2005 Author Report Posted September 21, 2005 Thanks for the replies. Last night I tried Hotline and the results were not so hot. All they had in my price range was a 1* at $68, so I'm better off with my $80 2** booking. It was actually $71 which I had to upgrade to $80 for two beds. I booked it through worldres.com after a couple hours of digging. The hotel:Broadway Manor Inn2201 Van Ness AvenueDoes Hotline have changes in availability every day? Are the reservations cancellable? I'm not used to booking with them. I have some Priceline experience booking rooms near LAX. They gave me $30 and $23 and night, respectively. (hee-hee)
thereuare Posted September 21, 2005 Report Posted September 21, 2005 I'm confused... you didn't book thru Hotwire (you used WorldRes.com), correct? Are reservations thru ResWorld cancellable? KAOS Posted September 21, 2005 Author Report Posted September 21, 2005 I booked through worldres and was inquiring about Hotwire. The reservation is cancellable.
thereuare Posted September 21, 2005 Report Posted September 21, 2005 Hotwire is non-cancellable and non-changable.You may want to give this thread a read for an overview: I'VE NEVER USED HOTWIRE Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
KAOS Posted September 21, 2005 Author Report Posted September 21, 2005 The info post was very informative. I didn't know much about Hotwire. So far I'm not too impressed with offers they made. You can do better by doing an extensive search at many sites as I did.
thereuare Posted September 21, 2005 Report Posted September 21, 2005 Generally speaking, the deals are much better at the higher star rated properties. There isnt' as much margin to discount in a 2* hotel room for $70 as there is in a 4* hotel room for $249. KAOS Posted September 21, 2005 Author Report Posted September 21, 2005 Yah, it's an education. I'm trying to do this on the cheap, and I do need to pay for 4 nights.
