Chris26WI Posted September 13, 2005 Report Posted September 13, 2005 A friend of mine is trying to get a 4star in Miami Beach South for November 8-11, she got rejected up to 130US$. Any advices? She said she could get the Holiday Inn (3*) regularly at 119+tax/night but of course would prefer a better hotel via Priceline..
techdude Posted September 13, 2005 Report Posted September 13, 2005 I tried for 4* during October. Had no luck either. If she plans to book Holiday Inn, then go through Priceline instead.Just go for the Holiday Inn. $40 should close the deal. Good location and free parking. If your friend doesn't plan to stay in the room for most of the trip (heard it was building was kind of worn down and rooms were small), then this one should be good enough. It's now or never. This hotel is going to be torn down in December. After that, it'll be $150+! =)
thereuare Posted September 13, 2005 Report Posted September 13, 2005 Agreed, i think she should weigh the options of her current amoutns vs the Holiday Inn (likely) for $40/nite (likely... given the rates you posted above). Chris26WI Posted September 15, 2005 Author Report Posted September 15, 2005 Finally, she ended up with the Four Points Sheraton Miami Beach with a bid of 85$ (maybe an overbid... she was rejected @80 for 4 star, then added 3 star and offered 85$...). For these dates, spg.com says 119$/night+tax, so seems to be ok.
thereuare Posted September 15, 2005 Report Posted September 15, 2005 Probably an overbid, as i think the Holiday Inn would have been available at $40 for these dates... hopefully she likes the Four Points. Thanks for the follow-up and keeping us updated. Chris26WI Posted September 15, 2005 Author Report Posted September 15, 2005 Sorry, should be Miami Beach, not South Miami Beach area (she changed to Miami Beach area after 4 star was unsuccesul for South Beach).
jluff Posted September 15, 2005 Report Posted September 15, 2005 Chris,I think Priceline has a low price guarantee and you may need it.... because if you look closely at www.spg.com they have an offer for buy 2 nights get one free under their Promotion section and "exclusive resort offers" . I just priced out your exact stay from 11/8-11/11 for a total of $238.00 (2 nights at $119.00 + 1 night free)You will be paying $255.00 plus priceline fees with the bid you outline above.I hope this info helps. Good luck
