I am looking at planning a trip to Disneyland for a group of students and am wondering if you have had any success at taking their express deals and getting them for cheaper by naming your own price? Just trying to figure out the best way to go about getting a good price.

Thanks.

Since Express bidding is fairly new to PL, it's hard to say whether NYOP or Express is better. I've been watching a trip to Fairbanks in June that was an "express bid" of $114/night for a 2 1/2* hotel as of 3/15/13. Just goofing around I've kept bidding the name your own price route for fun, and now the Express bid is up to $133/night, and I was unsuccessful today at a bid of $115/night (above what the original express bid offered). Fairbanks may be a bit odd as their summer season is so short, but my recommendation is if you like the location and the "price is right," AND your dates are confirmed (no cancellations allowed) then the express bid is surely a good alternative. And be sure to use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links above for all of your searches, bids and (hopefully) wins. Good luck!

Welcome to BetterBidding!

We have seen 'name your own price' bidding undercut the PRICELINE EXPRESS deal at the same star rating and zone as well as seen bidding at the same price as a PRICELINE EXPRESS deal fail... so it could go either way.

However, two important things to keep in mind:

1) the express.deals and bidding side of PRICELINE each user a different universe of hotels, so you may see hotels (and prices) on one side of their service that is not offered on the other side of their service (and it is therefore not always such an easy one-to-one correlation when comparing the two)

2) PRICELINE EXPRESS (and PRICELINE) only guarantee double occupancy, after that it is as the discretion of the hotel, and you could receive room(s) with only one bed. You can't count on quad occupancy (which is often the case when budgeting a trip for a group, especially kids/students). HOTWIRE does allow you to search for up to quad occupancy and guarantees accommodations for everyone you include in your search, but the second 'bed' could be a pullout sofabed, rollaway brought into the room, etc.

Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.

Let us know if/when your plans are firm and/or how you'd like to proceed and we'll try to be of further assistance.

Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
