Priceline Hotel: 4* Las Vegas (Fremont Street) Golden Nugget

Great Board! My situation is a bit complicated. I currently have the Golden Nugget booked for 5 nights (10/26-10/31), but would like to get a hotel on the Strip.

I would be happy to stay at the Nugget 2 nights, and move to the strip for the remaining 3 nights (10/28-10/31) booked via Priceline.

OR

Try to get a hotel on the strip for all 5 nights (10/26-10/31) which I have read might be difficult to get on Priceline.

My budget it about $100/night to a maximum of $125/night. And I think it might be best to wait until a week or two before leaving, or should I get started now?

Thanks (sorry so complicated!).

Chances of you getting priceline * which is the Ventian (Most times) with priceline on a weekend at the rate you are talking is slim to none. (sorry, Not trying to bust your bubble.) You most certainly can try. But have a back up plan that is cancelable. (meaning with hotel direct, not Expedia or non-direct web site as they typically can not be canceled if something better comes up.

After looking up a few places we typical stay,, that is a high demand weekend. If you have Nugget at a good rate,, then just hit the strip and use the Nugget as your landing pad. Is it a big race or fight weekend?? Something must be going on.

Welcome to BetterBidding!

If you're looking to spend some time on the strip i think you'll need to reverse your logic... staying downtown on the weekend and trying for the strip for the first two nites of your stay.

Is this possible for your stay?

What is the breakdown of your rate at the Golden Nugget?

Thanks for the quick response!

Rates at the Nugget are $89 the first 2 nights, then $120 for Fri & Sat, and $89 for Sun.

The reason we wanted the strip for the weekend is that we are attending the Vegoose Music Festival and the shuttle bus to the stadium only leaves from the strip. We figured that by the time we cab back and forth from the Nugget, we will have probably spent the same as if we'd just stayed on the strip for Fri/Sat/Sun.

Anyways, I have the Nugget as a back-up plan if all else fails.

Do you think I will have the best luck closer to the dates on Priceline / Hotwire / Easy Click?

Thanks again!

Not sure if you just rounded the above numbers, but you can book the Golden Nugget for a $1 or $2 cheaper (and help the board in the process :) ) by booking thru EasyClickTravel.

For the weekend dates $100 is not a realistic figure so i don't think that things will get better as you get closer to your travel dates, that amount is typically not high enough for the weekend during this time of year.

To get from Downtown to the Strip i recommend the city bus CAT. The local bus does take a fair amount of time, but if you get the express it only stops 4 times between Downtown and the Venetian and therefore only take a little bit more time than a cab... but at a fraction of the cost (~$2.50/pp)

If you do want to stay on the strip for the beginning part of your stay (in order to do 'strip things') the Monte Carlo can be had for $109/nite for the first two nites of your stay, and (imo) is worth an extra $20/nite more than the Nugget based upon the strip location.

OK Thanks.

Still going to try price line anyways for 10/28-10/31. (I have nothing to lose!). Just wondering... at the 5 star level, am I safe using free rebid zones that include resorts?

In my understanding, I should not use free rebid zones that include resorts at the 4 star level. Is this correct?

Also, I am thinking of trying to get the Nugget on Priceline for 10/26-10/27 at around $65/night. Do you think this is realistic? (I can start another thread if need be).

Yes, you have the re-bidding correct.

As it looks like you won't be able to get this complete stay within your previous parameters, please do start a new thread for the above two dates (which i assume are 10/26-10/28).

... but you have some time before this stay that i would be starting lower. With two re-bid zones (plus 'the strip' which would also be fine for this stay)...

Select 4* Downtown...

Bid $50, if rejected add strip....

Bid $55, if rejected add re-bid zone1...

Bid $60, if rejected add re-bdi zone2...

Bid $65.

If the above is rejected then start again in 72 hours with a bid if $60 and bid up to $75.

If you try the above please post results in a new topic.

Congratulations on your success!

Who would have known that those rejections at $55 and $60 would actually end up saving you money! :)

This is still 4* rated?

Thanks for the post and for using the SavingsBarn.com links to begin your bids.

Enjoy your stay.
