Welcome to BetterBidding :)

I'm sorry to say that a 3* property with this amenitie combo has not yet been reported/ID'd to the board.

But a guess would be that this is a new amenitie combo for the Holiday Inn.

Please use the board’s HOTWIRE link, and let us know how it goes or if you need any additional help with your stay.

Hi

I'm new and don't travel often, so not sure about the bidding thing. I am trying to decide between PL and HW hotels. Dates are June 11-19, 1 room. I'm looking to stay in the Mira Mesa area as my sister lives in the area.

I was wondering if you knew what these hotels are and what I should start bidding and expect to pay.

Sorrento Mesa 3* has free parking, free Internet, business center , fitness center

Miramar - Rancho Penasquitos - Poway 3* has free parking, free Internet, free breakfast, business center, fitness center, restaurant

I was also looking at La Jolla, but know they have tons of inventory, so I was wondering what I should bid in that area if we choose to go that route.

I'm assuming that in Miramar and Sorrento Mesa they don't have a lot of hotels they deals with so likely candidates are fewer. We are traveling with 3 ppl, but are willing to take the risk of only getting 1 bed, if the price is good.

Thanks

Please keep all posts for the same stay in the same thread.

What zones do you want to bid first... do you have a preference of any of the three above and are willing to pay more to be in this zone(s) vs. the others OR is the goal the least expensive 3* or better in any of your acceptable zones?

What is your maximum bid that would make it 'the right price' to take the risk of only one bed?

Sorry about that, I though PL and HW threads where in different fourms

We would like to stay the closest to Mira Mesa as possible. The goal would be the least expensive 3* hotel though.

I would say around $80-90 a night but really have no idea what hotels cost as we NEVER go on vacation. Last time was 3 years ago, when my sister got married, which was also in San Diego. We stayed at the Bahia and paid regular overpriced rate of $230 a night, which I think wasn't worth it as the room was dated and smelled.

When bidding 3* in this region you have ONE re-bid zone. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.

Bid $65, if rejected add re-bid zone...

I suspect that the above will be too low so if rejected don't get discouraged, but with time on your side i would start here and if unsuccessful we'll revise to try again in 24 hours.

Any questions feel free to ask.

So far I have gone up to $105 for Sorrento Mesa 3* with no luck, I kept bidding every 24 hours.

Then I tried up to $120 for La Jolla 4* also with no luck. Would it be wise to book a hotel that I can cancel and try closer too, when the hotels may be more desperate to get rid of inventory?

Done

Also sorry to be a pest but I was also looking at Hotwire 06/11-06/19 for 3 ppl. It pulled up 3* in Mira Mesa for $131 with 4.5 on trip TripAdvisor, with the following amenities... I think it's the Country Inn & Suites By Carlson, San Diego North

Free Parking

Free Breakfast

Fitness Center

Pool(s)

Business Center

High-Speed Internet Access

Accessible for the blind

Accessible for the deaf

Accessible path of travel

In-room accessibility

Accessible bathroom

Handicapped parking

Roll-in shower

The Holiday Inn Express Hotel and Suites Sorrento Valley would be my best guess for this one.

You can also try our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com which will enable you to see if there are any deals nearby your ideal location... makes it easy to see how much more/less it will cost to go up/down in star rating OR further/closer away from your desired location.

I just bought the hotel and you are correct it was the Holiday inn express, I was hoping it would be country inn and suites because on TripAdvisor the holiday inn was only 2 1/2 stars, but I guess hotwire classifies it as 3. It was bought for $131 a night which was $20 off the regular room rate.
