Priceline Hotel: London 4*, Mayfair 4/19-4/21 Weekend

Hi

I'd like to bid for a 4* hotel room in Mayfair/Soho, for Friday April 19 for 2 nights. Budget is $100/night. Can you please advise on bidding strategy?

I'm not sure that your budget will cut it for this. But please try, start at $80 and bid in $5 steps.

The deals right now seem to be in the North London/Regent's Park zone. Many bids have come up lately for less than $80 a night there (I won at $60 for a stay in March). The Marriott Maida Vale is a pretty good hotel and has great bus and tube links. Zone 2 -- but if price is more important than location, it's a great option. Mayfair/Soho is the most expensive zone and it might be tough to get below $100 a night there.

No luck with $100 in Mayfair/Soho. I will check to see if any free rebid zones but otherwise will continue to increase my bid and or look to bid in other areas. Thanks!

For 4* bidding there are two right now, but do check each time before bidding.

I am up to $110 and haven't added any other zones, except the free rebid zones. My budget is now $120 and I can add another neighborhood if this budget may not get Mayfair. Thanks!

You can try $120 for this zone but i think i don't think it will likely be enough... you're more likely looking at the $160-$180 (or more) for a 4* in this zone.

If you try for a 4* and are rejected, which zone(s) are you considering adding?

Was thinking of adding Westminster, but should i just start a new bid, with Westminster only and then add in Mayfair if rejected? If so, any thoughts on what I could get in Westminster? Someone mentioned Shoreditch as nice neighborhood, but have to see if that's listed as a zone. Thanks!

Up at the top of this Priceline - Other Countries area is a list of hotels members have reported to this board. Nicely arranged by city and then Priceline bidding zone.

You can see there what are Westminster possibilities. Of course other hotels are always possible, but it will give you a good idea.

You can also just search on Westminster using the search function above.

Or there is the Priceline and Hotwire Calendar of Wins in the Tools area where you can look for London results on your specific dates.

Using that link, looks to be $250 (min)- $350.

At $120 your still less than half of the lowest prevailing rate, which does not give you a very high probability of success. With less than a week until your stay i would be a bit more realistic in your bidding and increase your budget, lower your star rating, or include more zones (or at the very least have a gameplan of what you will do in the next few days of your current bids continue to be rejected)
