Thinking about $50 for3* Central location near underground. Some priceline hotels in some areas get raves other areas not that good. Any advise or hints?

Definitely not an expert here, but based on what you said about wanting a 3* hotel in a central location near the underground, I would only bid for the following areas, listed in my order of preference (which might not be yours):

Westminster

Bloomsbury - Marble Arch

Mayfair - Soho

Kensington - Earls Court - Knightsbridge (personally I don't think I'd bid here, but lots of people do and like it, and I think there have been some $50 bids for the Thistle Kensington)

There's no guarantee you will be next to the tube, of course, but I think it's highly unlikely you would be more than 4 blocks (and probably less) from a tube station.

You might not be able to get as low a rate as $50, particularly for a full 1-week stay.

(I was quite happy with the 2* Comfort Inn Vauxhall, which I have reviewed on this board, but I don't know if that would meet your requirements.)
