Neomoon Posted August 22, 2005 Report Posted August 22, 2005 Howdy,I am currently trying to plan a road trip to go watch a college football game outside the state. I was wondering if any of you guys know the rules that apply to various companies concerning unlimited weekend miles. Does this include taking the car out of state assuming that I am going to bring it back to the same location?I have been checking out this site off and on during the past months and figured now would be the best time to post.My trip information is as followsPickup/Drop-off: HOUDate(s): Sept 1-4People traveling for the weekend: 5Please keep in mind that none of us are over 25, where would I be better off renting from? The reason I ask is because I don't believe that most companies add the underage fee (or what I like to call the "idiot tax") when showing the search result. Thanks and Gig'emHope to hear from you guys soon.

Neomoon Posted August 26, 2005 Author Report Posted August 26, 2005 I believe I have found the reservation I want to book however I had one question before I book it.I will be taking the car outside the state and would like to ask you guys instead of calling the car rental company if there is some way that the company will know if I take the car outside of the state?Do car companies know when I take a car outside of the state? I have read the TOS of the sites and I am limited to neighboring states, but my trip goes a little outside the neighboring state. You guys have been very helpful so far. Thanks
thereuare Posted August 27, 2005 Report Posted August 27, 2005 Where do you intend on booking? Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
Neomoon Posted August 27, 2005 Author Report Posted August 27, 2005 I booked via the Avis site directly with discount code S022800 which gives me a free weekend day when I rent 3 or more days.In total I pay for 3 days but get the car for 4 days. This is directly from the website:Your Base Rate for a 3 day(s) rental is: 51.27 USDSurcharge : 9.41 USD
thereuare Posted August 27, 2005 Report Posted August 27, 2005 I don't know anything about GPS devices with rental cars... but don't have an accident and don't get a ticket! (always good policies whether you are driving out of state or not)Why not call the Avis counter (the actual location you're renting from, not the 800#) and ask what their policy is... act as a potential customer and not one that has already made a reservation. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
Neomoon Posted August 27, 2005 Author Report Posted August 27, 2005 Thanks for the information, I'll have to call the company and ask like you said.
