Priceline Hotel: Resort Kauai (Kapaa - Lihue) Kauai Beach Resort

Hi --

Any idea what the 4* hotel might be in Lihue? The amenities listed are:

Indoor or outdoor pool; business center; fitness center; restaurant

I would have guessed it would be the Kauai Beach Resort (which I'm hoping to get) -- but that is on your list as a "resort."

Are these amenities associated with this property on the 'name your own price' side of PRICELINE or is this thru a PRICELINE EXPRESS deal?

The 'guaranteed amenities' shown next to the star rating in PRICELINE's Name Your Own Price service are amenities that are present at all hotels in the zone at that star level... not a specific hotel that you're bidding on. At this point in the bidding process PRICELINE has not yet even checked for any available inventory.

If PRICELINE offers a star rating in the zone to be bid on you should error on the side of caution and expect that they do indeed have a hotel in this zone at that star rating... but there are rare exceptions where it's believed that a star rating is offered but not really available (and any wins in at this star rating would be upgraded to the higher rated Resort class property); this may be one of those instances.

I bid $110 for "resort" and was told I could get it is I added $21 -- for a total of $131.

Instead, I added 4* and bid $112. But no luck.

Next day ... bid $115 for resort -- and got the Kauai Beach Resort.

Guess I'll never know if it would have been the same property at the 4* level.
