VVacay Posted November 29, 2012 Author Report Posted November 29, 2012 Hi, would appreciate help with a bid for 12/22-12/26 for a room for 2 people (1 bed is OK) in New York City. I'd like UES/QB but would take MTE as well. From the pinned list, it looks like all the hotels are 3* or above and there is only 1 hotel in the QB area. Based on advice from the Hotwire board (thanks to thereuare!), it looks like we can get the Roger Smith (3* in MTE) for $125/night. Would appreciate any advice on how to craft a bid strategy to get a better price. I'll definitely use the board's PRICELINE link when it's time to bid. Thanks in advance.
thereuare Posted November 29, 2012 Report Posted November 29, 2012 When bidding 3* in NYC you have ONE re-bid zone. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 3* MTE...Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $105, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3* QB...Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $105, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3* UES...Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $105, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3* MTE and QB...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $115, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3* MTE and UES...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $115, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3* MTE and QB and UES...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $125Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. VVacay Posted November 29, 2012 Author Report Posted November 29, 2012 Thanks again. Looks like Coney Island is the rebid zone as it doesn't have anything higher than 2*. Appreciate you walking me through all the steps. Will update with results.
thereuare Posted November 30, 2012 Report Posted November 30, 2012 Yes, you have your ONE re-bid zones correct... but always double check just before bidding to make sure that nothing has changed since you last checked. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes.
