norwegianwife Posted August 15, 2005 Report Posted August 15, 2005 This was our first stop on our trip and the first hotel we stayed in after using Priceline. The woman at reception made a reference to Priceline not including city tax, but her comment was professional and friendly. We were given a fabulous room. The bed was probably the most comfortable I have ever slept in at a hotel. Down comforter, feather pillows, feather bed. We had a view overlooking the airconditioner unit, which I could say was a 'priceline view', but our friends travelling with us had a great view overlooking a park, so I just think it was luck of the draw and that's it! Very helpful concierge who knew the city and gave very good reccomendations and helpful and attentive bellmen. Did not eat at the hotel, but everything looked good and there is a Pizza Hut on the property! All around fabulous and a GREAT price through Priceline via Savingsbarn.com. This Marriott is close to everything. We had no problems finding shopping and eating within walking distance. We stayed in July and TRUST me, you NEED a jacket. It is very chilly. and take lots of money, Amsterdam is not cheap!
kayess Posted February 20, 2006 Report Posted February 20, 2006 Stayed at the Marriott for 2 nights last weekend. Great location near the Rijks and Van Gogh museums, Leidseplein and the Concertgebouw. Overall a very comfortable and convenient hotel. Service was good although more impersonal than the smaller NH hotels we'd stayed at earlier in the week. There was a queue at Reception when we checked in around noon. I think official checkin time is 3pm. We requested a twin bedded room and were told we could either come back at 3pm or there was a room with a kingsize bed immediately available and they could provide a rollaway bed. So we took that and were more than comfortable. No kettle or tea & coffee making facilities in the room but they did bring me up a kettle when I requested one for preparing a flu remedy. In addition to a well-stocked minibar there was a basket of overpriced chocolate bars and sweets on the dressing table which we managed not to touch. There were also some bottles of wine there at 6.90 Euros each which I was quite a bargain in comparison to the minibar stock and to the bar prices downstairs.
DallasTX Posted June 19, 2007 Report Posted June 19, 2007 We stayed here for an overnight before our cruise on June 1, 2007. Very good location with shopping, eating, museums, etc all within walking distance. For families, they did allow two adults and a 10 and 7 year old (4 total) in the room with two queen beds. Not sure if all rooms at the hotel allow for this but we were not accommodated later at another Dutch hotel so check first if you have a priceline reservation. The beds were very comfortable and the room was quiet. We ate dinner at the 'Character's restaurant and it was quite good. The morning breakfast buffet was fine but expensive. The lobby was a mess the next day with people trying to get to the cruise terminal. The staff tried to be helpful but they were just overwhelmed with requests. Once we got our last piece of luggage from the bag check, they had arranged for a private van which only cost ~$20Euros which we thought was quite reasonable. We would definitely try to stay here again if we found ourselves back in Amsterdam.
