Hope Posted August 14, 2005 Report Posted August 14, 2005 I've never used Priceline and would like help finding a hotel in Philadelphia for 1 night after touring the University of Pennsylvania. I arrive by rental car from Baltimore on September 22nd with a tour that day. I leave on the 23rd for a tour of Georgetown in DC. It will only be my son and me. I would like to be able to check out Philly a bit but am on a strict budget. Thanks!
thereuare Posted August 14, 2005 Report Posted August 14, 2005 Please follow-up your post on the board with whatever you ended up doing for your NYC HOTEL in April. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
Hope Posted August 14, 2005 Author Report Posted August 14, 2005 I ended up getting a government rate, not using Hotwire or Priceline. I could not use Priceline then with the possibility of getting only 1 bed for 4 people. This time it is only my son and I. Sorry if I used the board incorrectly.
thereuare Posted August 14, 2005 Report Posted August 14, 2005 We weren't confused, but we want all posts followed-up with a result as it keeps the board 'neater' and also let's future users know if you were ultimately successful or mad alterante plans. Also, as per my reply to your post above, you can book government rates and any other available rates using the hotel-direct links found in our SUPPORT PAGE and they go a long way to helping support this site.To move forward for this stay, we'll need to know the zones you're willing to bid, desired star rating, and your maximum bid. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
dahammer Posted August 14, 2005 Report Posted August 14, 2005 did Priceline just change the zones in Philly?? it looks like there is a Downtown zone, a University Zone. No longer a "waterfront" zone and West Philadelphia zone.....At any rate, for an overnight trip to check out U of P, the alma mater of the likes of Donald Trump and Michael Millken (the oft-maligned whipping boy and "inventor" of Junk Bonds), you might want to check out the University Zone as well as the Downtown Zone. You will have a car, so if you end up in in either of these zones, you will be able to drive to Penn. By the way, you might want to check out the White Dog Cafe @ 3420 Sansom St. on the edge of the campus for dinner, you won't be disappointed.PS, give us a budget and a minimum star rating.....PSS, you can always take the train from Baltimore up to Philly since 30th street station is just a few blocks away from U of P
Hope Posted November 1, 2005 Author Report Posted November 1, 2005 Just to follow up on this, I did not stay in Philly, instead stayed at a cousin's in DC. Thanks for any input though.
