I'm looking forward to staying in this area. I have stayed 2x in Kensington, and while a great area - I'm up for something new.

BTW, I have stayed at several hotels (since finding this site). If you like, I can go back and try to recreate these on the website nat the appropriate places. Here they are in a nutshell.

4* Copthorne Tara - Kensington for $78 for 3 nights in March 2004 - I liked this hotel and area. The hotel room was large, with 2 double beds. The decor was okay. The staff was helpful and its a block to the Tube (there's a shortcut). Alot of airline employees stay here. The train track was right outside my windon but I don't remember hearing the trains. There is a great pub if you go west on Kensington about 3 blocks -- to a coffee shop - turn left and its on the right side of the road - sorry, its been awhile and I can't remember the name. The pub is in a residential area. Overall, I would be happy to get this hotel.

4* Regents Park- Hilton London Metropole. 2 nights in March 2004 for around $75 - 80. The hotel was great, and near a Tube station. The Executive lounge was wonderful with a great breakfast and evening snacks. However, I hated the area around the hotel.

4*Millennium Gloucester - Kensington -- February 2005 for about $75 for 3 nights. This is a great location with several Tube stations virtually at your door, a Starbucks (for free internet access) and supermarket across the street and just a great area in general. Our first room was a problem --- very small and only a double bed even though we called ahead to book two singles. The second room was great - they moved us when we complained (but grudgingly). I found the front desk rather snobbish but the concierge desk very helpful. Also, don't even think about checking in early at this hotel - but they will check your bags. Overall, I would stay here again, despite the problems.

4*Hilton London Olympia -- Kensington -- February 2005 for 2 nights for about $65. I really liked this hotel -- with a great staff, wonderful breakfast buffet and large, clean room. The location was near a train station and a 15 minute walk from the Kensington High Tube station. Unfortunately, it was a abit out of the way (at least I felt it was).

Thanks for sharing your most recent win.

Was this your first bid in the zone?

You may want to add some of your comments above to the HOTEL REVIEW section of the board as they will likely help more people if they are property categorized there (as eventually this post will make it off the first page of this section).

Enjoy your stay.

I posted my reviews to the Hotel Review board.

And, to answer your question, it was the first day of attempted bidding and here is the history -

1st - $55 Marble Arch only - rejected

2d - $57 Marble Arch & Kensington - rejected

3d - $60 Marble Arch & Mayfair - accepted.

I don't normally try for a Hotel on priceline this early - but with the great deals that everyone is getting for this hotel, I didn't wait.
