You're also right around the block from the famous night time

(SW corner of 53rd St and Sixth Ave... they begin serving 7:30pm and finish at about 4am... if you're adventurous enough to eat 'street meat' you should give it a try as it's probably one of the best $6 dinners in the city. Load up on the white sauce but go very easy on the hot sauce. ;)

WOW! We booked direct and paid no joke, around $500 per night for that hotel in April. It worked out well for us because there was 3 of us travelling, and its a GORGEOUS hotel! The lobby has a starbucks in the morning that turns into a bar at night - great for your morning coffee as the one up the street is always rammed. :D

I second the recommendation for the Halal guys. We stumbled upon it one night before we went to the Comic Strip (go there if you can, Ray Ellin is amazing!) and I'm still dreaming of the food six month on. AMAZING AMAZING gyros and you can reach it in around 10 steps by nipping out the side door of the hotel by the gift shop. :D There's also a lovely deli just by it that's open all night if you can't sleep / get jetlag or whatever. I was a bit nervous being a lone girl wandering around in the darkest of night but its only a quick dash from the hotel side exit, so really really convenient. :D
