  1. W New York Amenities: Pet friendly Boutique hotel Fitness center Restaurant(s) Business center Self-service laundry Internet access Spa services
  2. I called up and successfully got this cancelled as its listed as a 3.5 star on hotels.com, expedia and the hotwire vacations site but I thought I'd report the win anyway! Amenities: Free Internet Smoke-free rooms Fitness center Restaurant(s) Business center Self-service laundry Internet access
  3. I was doing 3 searches and cross referencing - 1 with 2 rooms (which assumed triple occupancy in all), 1 with 2 adults, 1 child and 1 with 1 adult, 1 child. There was a big difference when it came to booking separately. An update - we have now booked the Roosevelt in MTE for $199 + Tax direct with the hotel. Both of us have rooms that are triple occupancy for that price, it has free cancellation and it doesn't look like they're wanting the money upfront either which I think is a pretty good deal. :D I'm now just looking for a room for my son and I for the 9th-11th and the Roosevelt for some reason leaps up in price for those days. I'm wondering about maybe going a bit outside the usual zones for that, as we've stayed in chelsea, times square and MTE several times now, plus we'll have done all the usual kid friendly haunts during the previous 2 days. Do you have any suggestions for me?
  4. Honestly? I think I'm looking for the impossible! 2 rooms, 1 that's fine for double occupancy, the other needs to sleep 2 adults (mother and daughter) and 1 child (who's 5). We have clearly travelled to NYC and got bargain deals too many times as the budget my friend (with the triple occupancy room) has set is $160 (or £100) all in, including taxes per night which I don't think is particularly doable anywhere other than priceline or hotwire. We've stayed in a 3* before but most of our trips have been in 4* hotels. As we're coming from a 4.5* in Orlando, I think anything less than a 4* in NYC would be too much of a shock to the system with the room sizes being the biggest difference between hotels with that difference in star ratings, and I don't want to be cramped, especially as we're going to be spending more time than usual in the room as we'll have children with us. I'm going to have a talk with her in the next few days about increasing the budget. As we're travelling with kids ideally we want to be in or near Times Square. I got (and LOVED) the Lexington in MTE for $100 a night the last time I visited with my son but that was a total fluke. My friend seems to think prices will plummet if we book last minute but I'm not so sure and would rather have something in place now.
  5. Room Mate Grace was my guess too - although spa is pushing it a bit! There's another one 3.5* ESB - 80% Recommended $163 FULL AMENITIES: Boutique hotel, Business center, Self-service laundry, Internet access Any idea? I'm thinking Martha Washington We're really struggling to find a hotel for these dates. :(
  6. FULL AMENITIES: Free Internet, Boutique hotel, Indoor pool(s), Fitness center, Pool(s), Business center, Self-service laundry, Internet access, Spa services, Accessible path of travel, In-room accessibility, Wheelchair accessible, Accessible bathroom, Roll-in shower I am seeing $167 and 80% Recommended. Dates April 7th-9th. Any ideas?
  7. 2nd of 2 bookings. This time for 2 rooms. The kids are SO unbelievably excited! :)
  8. Really pleased to have won this - it came up as a whooping 75% off!! Prior to bidding for this I had successfully won 2 rooms at the Hyatt Orlando for the 31st - 7th. We actually arrive 2 days earlier than our friends do (29th) and I didn't hold out much hope of winning this bid as the rate on Hotels..com was £400 odd for the 2 extra days! I was dreading having to move hotels, so I'm delighted with this win. :)
  9. Found it again. Yes those are the amenities, and I got it by searching for 2 adults, price today is $127 and the resort fee is £8.38. The same hotel is showing in April for nearly $300. Do you have any idea what it could be? I don't want to risk booking it without having some idea.
  10. I have updated my last post - sorry about that. I'm usually good at reporting back, things were a bit hectic after the last trip. The room appears to have vanished now - It was a 4.5* but I may have been searching for 2 adults 1 child. I think I came to the conclusion it was likely the Villas of Grand Cyprus, but now its gone I have no way of confirming that.
  11. Hi, we ended up staying in the Hyatt Place, Flushing which I booked through Hotels..com. Worked brilliantly - lovely room, free breakfast, McDonalds down the street for a 3am happy meal and a mall within walking distance to wander around in the morning before taking a quick cab to the airport. Would recommend it to anyone flying out of LGA.
  12. Dates - 20th July - 5th Aug Free parking Free Internet Resort Pet friendly Suite Fitness center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) 4.5/5 on Trip Advisor Any ideas?
  13. 22nd - 23rd Oct. Rates seem to be around $80 for Newark, more for LGA and even more for Manhattan ($300ish) Priceline bids of up to $170 before tax for Manhattan (I was chancing my luck!) have not been successful so far. I'd want either 3 or 4 star.
  14. Can't wait. :) Even on HOTWIRE it was a good $150 more. (It's easy for me to tell on hotwire which hotel is which as there's currently only 3 to choose between) Used the PRICELINE links on here for all searches and wins. :)
  15. I LOVE the new refurbished Hilton. It's amazing there. Ended up extending my booking to the 19th August for the same rate.
