belgo Posted August 6, 2005 Report Posted August 6, 2005 I've noticed that not many people report bidding or winning in the WTC area. I'm thinking of going to a conference in the Convention Center which is in that area. Is there a reason people don't seem to be bidding in that area? Is it a bad neighborhood or is there a "bad apple" hotel Priceline uses there? :)
thereuare Posted August 6, 2005 Report Posted August 6, 2005 My guess is that it's not a centrally located area and/or not near the touristy things... as well as pretty quiet on weekends. But the above is just a guess, so hopefully somebody else who knows the area better can comment. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
thenewbie Posted August 6, 2005 Report Posted August 6, 2005 The WTC area isn't a major hotel area. The only hotel that I know of in the WTC area is the Seaport hotel (4*). It's more of a business area and tourists don't go to that area.If you are going to the convention center, you would be better off staying in another area and take the Silver Line to the convention center. This way you'd have better access to Boston's tourist areas & restaurants.
belgo Posted August 6, 2005 Author Report Posted August 6, 2005 Thank you for your response. What Priceline zone would you recommend where one could be fairly certain of getting a hotel within easy walking distance of a subway line?
thenewbie Posted August 6, 2005 Report Posted August 6, 2005 What are your dates? We'll make a plan from there.
belgo Posted August 7, 2005 Author Report Posted August 7, 2005 I don't have firm plans at this time. I have been looking at two conferences, actually. If I went, it would be November 9-13.
thenewbie Posted August 7, 2005 Report Posted August 7, 2005 Well until your plans are firm, you shouldn't use Hotwire or Priceline as they are non-refundable.One option you can choose is to book a cancellable reservation for the Holiday Inn Select through EasyClickTravel for $117.64 + taxes. It is located between 2 red line stations which bring you directly to South Station for a transfer to the silver line. Here's their short hotel description:This hotel is located at the base of Boston's most historic neighborhood. We are walking distance to the best Boston has to offer. Cheer on the Bruins or the Celtics at the Fleet Center or enjoy one of the Fleet's many concerts/events. Visit Faneuil Hall/Quincy Market for unique Boston shopping, dine on Boston Harbor with freshest local seafood. Also within walking distance: Boston's downtown Financial District, Massachusetts General Hospital-MGH, Boston Shriner's Hospital and Spaulding Rehabilitation Center. With two MBTA subway stops nearby, the rest of Boston is easily accessible.
belgo Posted August 7, 2005 Author Report Posted August 7, 2005 Oops! You left out the name of the hotel... Which hotel is it?
