Priceline Hotel: Help with bidding 3* in Springfield IL 8/13/12-8/14/12

I used the PRICELINE link to bid on a 3* in Springfield IL for 8/13/12 (Mon). Bids of $51 in Springfield and then $61 in South Springfield were both rejected. Does anyone have a better price I should use when I try again on Sunday? Springfield has always been tough and there may be something going on.

I went ahead and booked the Holiday Inn Express at 3050 South Dirksen for $99 (ouch), but I have until Mon at 6PM to cancel.

HOTWIRE has a property in Springfield North for $82 at the 3* level and $97 at the 3* South level. I'd try $70-75 at the 3* level. If not, the HOTWIRE 3* in Springfield North (which also lists free breakfast) is a mild improvement over the HI Express reservation.
