Hotwire Hotel: 3* San Diego (Del Mar - Rancho Santa Fe) Doubletree Hotel Del Mar

After trying for over a week to book a 3* or higher hotel in Del Mar through Priceline and re-bidding in $5 increments from $60 to $120 and being rejected, I decided to give Hotwire a try. I knew that if I were to use non-opaque travel channels that I would have to pay $150-$160 for my dates, so $123 offered by them was not bad. The hotel had the following facilities/features listed:

I knew right away that it was not Hilton Del Mar or Marriott since they charge an arm and a leg for on property parking and internet access, and Holiday Inn Express Hotel and Suites Solana Beach does not a restaurant on property, so I was almost sure it would be Doubletree, which I like even better than Hilton since they give you a yummy cookie upon check-in and more importantly they have a sofa bed in the room for my kid and have free parking. Last time they even gave me complimentary in room access. Plus there is a small plaza with all a grocery store, movie theater a bunch on restaurants nearby. The only think that Hilton has going vs. Doubletree is proximity to the beach and The Fish Market restaurant, whose happy hour $1.25 oysters my family loves. So I am very pleased with the outcome.
