GOMUPACK Posted June 29, 2012 Report Posted June 29, 2012 Hi there - I've used this board to research and access Priceline many times before. Need a room (wife and I MUCH prefer NMA rather than Millenium Park/Loop) for 3 nights, July 26, 27, 28 (Thur Fri & Sat nights).I looked at the calendar of bids, and seems that we would have won Crown Plaza Ave Downtown Chicago for around $115 - $120. I bid the following, 4-Star only:$100, 105, 110, 115, 120, 125, 128 with no luck.Any helpful suggestions? Or should I just begin the process again tomorrow and start at $120??? (Do I have to wait 24 hrs or do you have a link that allows me to immediately re-bid?)Pointers are appreciated.thx!PS - we are visiting for a Cards/Cubs game....will that make the weekend difficult?
AaronJB Posted June 29, 2012 Report Posted June 29, 2012 The Crowne Plaza was won for part of this time period, but rate/s vary if dates are even slightly different. The night of the 28th is the problem, as rates do look moderately higher than the 26th-28th, but then you would likely have to switch hotels and the additional night would cost more. You may have success (although I'd start lower first) at the $110-120 level if you bid for 7/26-28 set only. What would be your desired budget per night for the stay? The Cubs/Cards games are generally some of the more popular of the season and do see some hotel traffic due to the close STL rivalry.
GOMUPACK Posted June 29, 2012 Author Report Posted June 29, 2012 Ah, I see. So you feel that Saturday night (July 28) is the problem - more so than Friday night? I suppose I could bid on a Thur/Fri night stay, then if I won, go back out there and get Saturday night? Wife would not like it but I could do the hotel switch on Saturday whilst she shops. Something to think about.I guess my budget is "best price I can get" for a 4 star (ha ha). But I would like to get around $125, but $150's okay too. Really don't want to go much above $150.
thereuare Posted June 29, 2012 Report Posted June 29, 2012 Before SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID, do you want to first try for a 4* hotel in the NMA zone up to $150?Thanks for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
