Priceline Hotel: 3.5* New York City (Midtown East) The New York Helmsley Hotel

I started at $70 and kept adding zones for a 3.5 star in Times Square, Midtown East or Midtown West. As I continued to raise my bid $5 per round, I ended up getting the Helmsley for $95 (which seems to be a common price range for those who book about a week in advance).

I am very pleased, given that Kayak has the cheapest 3.5 star hotel in Midtown going for close to $189.
