MikeInMass Posted July 22, 2005 Report Posted July 22, 2005 I would like to stay in the Brewster/Eastham area of Cape Cod, Massachusetts the night of 7/30.That area has 1*, 2*, 3* and "resort" listed as available on Priceline.Of the nearby zones, Falmouth has 1*, 2*, and 3*, and Hyannis has 1*, 2*, 2.5* and 3* available. So as far as I can tell, there are no free re-bid zones, except that I don't know how the "Resort" level works. These zones are too long a drive away in crappy Cape traffic; I don't mind paying to stay in Brewster/Eastham.I can book a decent motel for $175 a night with a two night minimum (7/29-7/30).I would rather avoid having to stay the second night.A one star Econo Lodge back in Hyannis, an annoyingly long drive away, is $110 a night online.Any suggestions on bidding strategy? Thanks!
thereuare Posted July 22, 2005 Report Posted July 22, 2005 What star rating did you intend to bid on?If you're just looking for a place to stay, Expedia has the Captain Quarters Motel (which i know nothing about) in Eastham for just $119/nite. MikeInMass Posted July 22, 2005 Author Report Posted July 22, 2005 What star rating did you intend to bid on?If you're just looking for a place to stay, Expedia has the Captain Quarters Motel (which i know nothing about) in Eastham for just $119/nite. 2* or better is fine; I'm afraid of what a 1* might be unless someone knows a specific counterexample.Expedia shows no availibility for me for 7/30. For 7/29-7/30 I could take the Town Crier for $129, but that got no star rating and some scathing reviews. It also has the two night minimum stay.
MikeInMass Posted July 22, 2005 Author Report Posted July 22, 2005 Well, I found a 1* in Eastham that got good reviews, the Blue Dolphin Inn,for $119 a night minus a 10% AAA discount. Good enough-- enough places got crummy reviews that I felt like going with a known quantity. They are a book-over-the-phone operation-- sorry for not having the chance to support BB through the Expedia link. I will certainly buy my next plane ticket through one of your links, though.
