Priceline Hotel: 3.5* Pittsburgh (Airport PIT) Crowne Plaza Pittsburgh Airport

Hi all,

Wondering if anyone can provide some insight as to what event(s) might be happening (if any) the weekend of June 29 to July 1st as it seems 4* hotel supply is low that weekend. Looking to book a 4* in downtown Pittsburgh but having no luck. Bid over $130 per night with no success.

Any advice would be appreciated.

This is an extremely busy period (not sure why; possibly a convention?) - the only property in the downtown area on HOTWIRE is a 3* for over $200. There may not be any inventory at the 4* level.

The Pittsburgh Three Rivers Regatta is that weekend, although i'm not sure just how big of a draw of an event this is.

I ended up booking via PRICELINE a hotel by the airport.

Winning bid for June 29 to July 1st was $50 per night for 3.5*

Crowne Plaza is a 3* NOT a 3.5*. Have stayed there several times. It is a nice property though.

The only 3.5* properties I've identified at PIT airport are the Marriot full service and the Hyatt which is actually AT the airport. I have booked both of these on Priceline at the 3.5 star level. I believe Embassy Suites at the Airport is also 3.5*. Got it once, back in 2009 or so, but Priceline wouldn't let me see that far back in my wins to check the star level.

Enjoy the Crowne Plaza though, it is a nice hotel.

Regatta is a HUGE draw. It's the largest inland Regatta in the US, and also one of the oldest, in it's 35th season.

Since 4th of July is mid-week this year, I imagine Regatta will be even bigger. Plus they are putting up an outdoor skating rink at Point State Park, fireworks for Regatta, etc.. This year Pgh is also getting the Superstock P1 boats and championship series in addition to F2 and F3.
