scott2414 Posted July 16, 2005 Report Posted July 16, 2005 Not a bad price for the holiday. But it appears that others have gotten it in the past for $39. Started there and went up adding areas. This is a stop in the "eat my way across the east" tour '05.

scott2414 Posted July 16, 2005 Author Report Posted July 16, 2005 Last highest rejected bid was $53We are starting in Illinois and ending in DC. Going to hit Tony Luke's in Philly, all the chocolate I can eat in Hershey, and the Hard Time's Cafe in DC to name a few. I have lived in many places over the last ten years and get hooked on places and have to go back.
dahammer Posted July 19, 2005 Report Posted July 19, 2005 Scott, glad to see that you will hit Tony Luke's as most visitors only think of going to Pat's "king of steaks" and getting an overpriced and over-rated cheesesteak with plenty of attitude :) If in that neighborhood, I would go to Geno's anyway as they use rib-eye for their cheesesteak and have way less attitude. :) I know that I sound like a broken record, but at Tony Lukes, you will have to get a roast pork sandwich with provalone and the "bitter herbs" which is broccoli rabe sauteed in garlic and olive oil. This is the best sandwich in Philly. Cheesesteaks are good, but I've never had one here. You are also close to John's on Weccacoe street and Delaware Ave, the place in Philly for Cheesesteaks. Now, from Harrisburg to Philly, you will need to pass through Pennsylvania Dutch and Amish country, there is a great buffet restaurant called The Shady Maple in East Earl, PA. Closed Sunday for the sabbath. Its open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and offers a great array of high quality items, this place can seat about 500 or so at one time and during the weekends, it is a mob scene.
