dahammer Posted July 14, 2005 Report Posted July 14, 2005 no, I don't see black helicopters flying overhead, but why does Priceline always send me to their "Shop and Compare" site when I want to start bidding on a room? I am getting fed up with their product and as a result I have been going with HW for my same day bids as it saves me time. But, not today, as I started my bidding earlier and chose the Saddle Brook-Teaneck zone; and as always, I used Savingsbarn.com to access the PL site. I chose Teaneck-Ft.Lee zone and bid $80 for a 3*, but was rejected. I added the Saddle Brook zone and bid $85, success:Congratulations, you got your price of $85 for a 3-star hotel room. Your Offer Price: $85.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $19.87 Total Charges: $104.87 Saddle Brook - Hasbrouck Heights283 Route 17 South Hasbrouck Heights, New Jersey 07604 What can I say about the H.I.H.H.? It is a "courtyard" style Holiday Inn with indoor room access and an outdoor pool in the courtyard, probably built in the 70's. Staff is very friendly and accomodating. I presented my Priority Club card, photo ID along with my credit card for incedentals and was given a non-smoking room with two beds on the ground floor. I guess they looked at my profile and gave me what I wanted. There is no bus service to NYC within walking distance, but the hotel shuttle will take you to Williamson Blvd. bus stop at no charge. The room was H.I. non-descript and clean, but the exterior of this hotel could use an extreme makeover. No desk in the room, I am relegated to a non-rolling chair and a table that is about 30"x30" upon which to perch my laptop. Parking is free. There is a restaurant and free wireless hi speed internet. The standard rate is $149 and with taxes, $166, so I saved about $60 bucks. I am non-plussed with the savings, but room rates have shot up faster than the price of petrol, so I guess I should be happy, but $85??? This is really not a 3*;although not as bad a stretch-of-the-truth as the 3* Sheraton 4 Points in Elizabeth, but pretty close. This would be a great spot if you were flying in/out of Teterboro airport, which is 5 minutes away, but I suppose if you were, you would have a private jet and not be concerned about saving $60 off the rack rate.
