Priceline Hotel: 3* DC (Georgetown North) Holiday Inn Washington Georgetown

I saw there were winning bids for 82/night for a 2.5 star white house-downtown but that was rejected so I added, foggy bottom-georgetown, georgetown north, and dupont circle-woodley park, adding 10 with each zone i added....all rejected.

Started over and tried 3.5 star 110 white house-downtown and rejected, went up 5 added 3* and dupont circle-woodley park AND georgetown-foggy bottom....rejected, went up 5 and added convention center-capital hill ... rejected, went up 5 to 125/night and finally/lastly added georgetown north and it was accepted.

I feel my bid was overpriced (savings were tiny) or I did something wrong or what. Looking at many who got stays in nicer hotels in/around the same areas for much less per night. Any clues/tips on what happened and how I can do better?

I'm thinking maybe i paid so much because one of my days (last day of the stay) is a weekday but jeez.

Sorry to see that this wasn't as much of a deal as you had expected or that others had received, but there was a flaw in your bidding that you didn't bid as well as you could/should have...

Your 3* bidding sent something like this:

$115 dupont circle-woodley park AND georgetown-foggy bottom

$120 convention center-capital hill

$125 georgetown north

As you can see your first bid in this zone at the 3* level was at $125/nite, so you never gave yourself a chance to win it for less. You also had one re-bid zone (see Priceline Re-Bidding Explained) which you could have used.

$105 CCCH and GTFB

$105 DCWP - GTN

$110 DCWP and CCCH

$110 GTFB - GTN
