I have been checking out Hotwire.com and I'm trying to determine what the 3.5 Resort Hotel for $158 is.

I am looking to bid on a 3.5-4 star hotel in the Poipu area of Kuaui, May 2012 and not paying more than $135/night. We will most likely start with bidding for May 21-26th, but dates are flexible staying within the month of May.

The 3.5* property matches previous reports for the Sheraton so that would be my best guess for this one.

I WOULD LIKE TO FIND A 4 STAR CONDO/HOTEL/RESORT near POIPU BEACH for $160 max bid on Priceline if it is possible. Any suggestions?

Assuming you're willing to accept a hotel anywhere within the Poipu zone...

I don't think your $165 budget will be enough for this stay, but with some time on your side to give it a try over the next 3 days:

When bidding the Resort level on Kauai you have ONE re-bid zone. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.

Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $140

If the above is rejected wait 24 hours and try once again:

Keep in mind that, in terms of your budget, both the Sheraton and the Hyatt have a $25 a night resort fee in addition to whatever the cost of a winning bid + taxes + PRICELINE fees is

Also, presently, the Sheraton is temporarily considered a 3.5 star because of some ongoing renovations, while the Hyatt is considered a resort. But the situation with the Sheraton and how it is ranked within PRICELINE and HOTWIRE could change at any time.
