spederson Posted March 14, 2012 Report Posted March 14, 2012 Hi, I'm trying to figure out what this property might be. It looks like it could either be the Fairfield Inn (formerly Mission Inn, formerly Holiday Inn Express), or La Quinta. But La Quinta has a quite a bit lower reviewer rating.San Diego (Old Town) 2.5*one night: 2-3 AprilSmoke Free roomsPool(s)Airport shuttleComplimentary breakfastLaundry facilities (self serve)High-speed InternetRecommended by 85%Thanks!
spederson Posted March 14, 2012 Author Report Posted March 14, 2012 I thought I was forgetting something--it's $61! Sorry about that...
thereuare Posted March 15, 2012 Report Posted March 15, 2012 Of the two i'd slightly favor the Fairfield Inn, but you should at least be prepared for either. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help. spederson Posted March 17, 2012 Author Report Posted March 17, 2012 Thanks! It did seem more likely to be the Fairfield (Marriott) to me as well, as Hotwire was showing $150 as the usual standard price for that room--rates for the Fairfield for that date on their site (139, 159) were much closer to that than those for La Quinta (93). So I was kind of hoping for the Fairfield, as apparently it is all newly redecorated and looks really quite nice, but it turned out to be:La Quinta Old Town/Airport2.5*03/27 - 03/28$64 + tax ($77)Smoke Free Rooms Airport Shuttle Complimentary BreakfastPool(s) Laundry Facilities (self-service) High-Speed Internet AccessI see that on the BB Priceline list, the only 2.5* hotel listed in the Old Town bidding area is the former Mission Inn/formerly Holiday Inn Express...now the Fairfield). No one's posted it as a win in ages, but 2.5* is currently showing as an option in the bidding form. Maybe I should have gone that route! Oh, well, La Quinta will be fine. It's not wildly fancy but very clean and apparently the free breakfast is good, we're getting in late and leaving fairly early. Even with taxes, still $20 less than rack rate. Apparently it is $10 parking, but they have an airport shuttle so might even just get that there and back and go pick up the car the next day. Thanks for your help!
