the8teesgirl Posted July 6, 2005 Report Posted July 6, 2005 Heading to Montreal this weekend for a one night stay (7/9).....I have checked some recent winning bids at hotels we are familiar with.......Looking for advice......is it wise to bid $55 for a 3* Downtown and then re-bid by adding 2 1/2* if rejected??? Will not have the 72 hour window to play with (and my friends and I have run into the "how do they know it's us?" wall when trying to outsmart PL with a different account and bidding again!!) Location is more important than quality - it's just a bed! Thanks !
thereuare Posted July 6, 2005 Report Posted July 6, 2005 Welcome to BetterBidding! How high have you already bid?Not sure if there is something happening in Montreal this weekend or if it's just 'late in the game', but rates are higher than usual. the8teesgirl Posted July 6, 2005 Author Report Posted July 6, 2005 Haven't bid yet.......don't want to start too low and get bit, you know? Saw a post online that got a 3* (Hyatt) for 7/15-7/17 for $60.....but I understand, prices could be through the roof for this weekend - it's the tail end of the Jazz Fest....ugh! Suggestions???
thereuare Posted July 6, 2005 Report Posted July 6, 2005 You have no re-bids zones available at the 3* level. There is a 3.5* on Hotwire available for $75... if you're a new customer to Hotwire you can use the $10/off dicount code 'giftcard06' to bring that down to $65.I would therefore bid $55 for a 3* on Priceline... if that's rejected take the Hotwire offer above (which may be the Hyatt). The above assumes you're eligible for the $10 off code... if not, post back and we'll re-examine the situation.Let us know how it goes or any other questions. thereuare Posted July 7, 2005 Report Posted July 7, 2005 Shows you that you don't need to know what is happening in town... but you can usually tell when something is happening in town just by looking at prices. It all comes down to Supply vs. Demand.
