spederson Posted March 6, 2012 Report Posted March 6, 2012 Hi, I'm wondering if you have any ideas about this one, showing at $159/night:4* Carlsbad area hotel3/28-3/30ResortPool(s)Golf nearbySmoke free roomsRestaurant(s)Tennis nearbyFitness centreBusiness centreThanks!
AaronJB Posted March 7, 2012 Report Posted March 7, 2012 This amenity set has not yet been reported to the board, but my guess would be the Sheraton with a new/previously unseen smoke-free icon.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
spederson Posted March 8, 2012 Author Report Posted March 8, 2012 Thanks so much! Interesting, the Sheraton is listed as 3.5* on Priceline. At any rate, $159 is not looking like a wildly exciting deal...I am considering Priceline, but what with all the resort fees and parking and breakfast, etc, I'm also trying to find any possible deals for West Inn and Suites, as it seems to be much more highly rated than either the Sheraton or Grand Pacific and has a lot of nice extras. We're planning of a day relaxing around the pool, beach, room, and then Legoland the next (crossing fingers for weather). The Legoland travel site is actually offering a 10% nightly discount at the West. I think I'll call the hotel directly, as they say they have a rate guarantee and then I can cancel without a charge if something goes haywire with the trip.I have two more segments still to book, 2-3 nights further down the coast (I am trying to find a cottage vacation rental in La Jolla, without too much luck so far). Any recommendations gratefully accepted for one parent travelling with two under-8s! There is a place in Ocean Beach but what I've read of the area seems rather mixed. Then probably somewhere in town or near the airport.I expect to Priceline at least one or two hotels on either end of the trip, so will go through the links here/post the details! Thanks!
thereuare Posted March 8, 2012 Report Posted March 8, 2012 Make sure you inquire the terms of the 'rate guarantee' as it may just match the rate you find for their property and not allow for cancellations. For help with the other legs of your trip please start a NEW TOPIC for each stay and include the city, zone, star rating and dates you'll be trying for. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
spederson Posted March 14, 2012 Author Report Posted March 14, 2012 FYI, the West cheerfully matched the 10% off rate I'd found elsewhere, with their regular cancellation policy in place (3 days' notice no charge)!
AaronJB Posted March 14, 2012 Report Posted March 14, 2012 Thank you for closing the thread. Enjoy your stay.
