Priceline Hotel: 3.5* Los Angeles (Redondo-Manhattan Beach) Crowne Plaza

I've been trying to get a hotel in this area for an upcoming trip to LAX. I've been bidding for about 2 weeks. Anyways, today I noticed that there is a 4 star property in this area for name your own price. It wasn't there yesterday (highest rated was 3.5 star). Any thoughts about what hotel it might be? I don't see that it is identified on the hotel list for this zone on this forum.

I've been bidding for about two weeks with no luck bidding $55/ni. max. Was hoping for Best Western Sunrise, so bid 2.5 star, knowing full well I might get upgraded to Crowne Plaza. Today I started at $45 and was rejected, offered free rebid at $56. I declined and added only rebid zone (USC) and increased price to $50. "Upgraded" award to Crowne Plaza. Here are details:

Total Charged to Card: $64.79

I called hotel and asked for two queens (or doubles) and they will do their best to accomodate. The guy from the front desk also told me that the surrounding neighborhood is safe and that free street parking is avialble if I don't mind to walk a couple blocks. I thought that was nice for him to let me know. I'll check it out, but am not opposed to paying the $23/daily parking if necessary.

I've stayed at this hotel a couple of years ago - and won it via Priceline (but before I knew of the great Better Bidding site). It is a decent hotel but I've read on another travel site that they are remodeling now or very soon.

Redondo Beach is a nice upscale seaside town - so, I can second the hotel clerk's comments to you. And, it was nice of him to suggest free parking a couple of blocks away. If the weather is nice, I'd gladly hoof it to save $23/day. You could always use the cash for a nice dinner.

I see the forum moderator has merged my two separate posts. I'm still curious to know if the moderators have any thoughts about what the 4-star property in this zone (LAX - Redondo/Manhattan Beach) might be.

Please keep all posts for the same stay in the same thread. I had researched this yesterday but didn't continue once i saw that you has already won a hotel for this trip. The 4* Noble House Portofino Hotel and Yacht Club would be at least one possibility in this zone at the 4* level.
