lasvegasfunfunfun Posted January 14, 2012 Report Posted January 14, 2012 Hi - I am so glad I found this site! I read through many pages so forgive me if I don't know the rules of the road.I will only be in Vegas for one night, 1/20/12 so I am not picky but I also don't want to spend too much money.I just want to stay on the strip. I can spend up to $55-60. Is it correct that hotels charge a resort fee of $10-15 on top of the Priceline charge? I thought the Priceline charge is all inclusive.I read that people have been getting Tropicana for $50 a night. What I can do in order to get this? I believe Tropicana is a 4*? I prefer a 4*.What if I go down to 3*? Are there any hotel on the strip that is a 3* that is decent? I know I pay for what I get.In any case, perhaps help me with a 4* for around $50-60? Is it possible for you to help me with the re-bid zones?Thank you so much!
thereuare Posted January 14, 2012 Report Posted January 14, 2012 Welcome to BetterBidding... we're glad you found us too! :)Please start by reading your messages. To determine your re-bid zones, see this thread: Priceline Re-Bidding Explained. See the information there to determine your re-bid zones with the board (NOTE: at the 4* level you have FOUR re-bid zones, at the 3.5* level you have THREE re-bid zones). If you read the previous link and are confused just post back and we'll break it down further for you.As far as the Tropicana, rates are date specific so you may not be able to replicate another user's winning bid... especially when your date is for a weekend nite (which are generally more expensive then mid-week nites).Would something like the Westin be acceptable? It's located slightly off-strip but is in PRICELINE's Strip South zone.Let us know regarding the Westin, as well as your re-bid zones, and we'll advise accordingly. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. lasvegasfunfunfun Posted January 14, 2012 Author Report Posted January 14, 2012 I am not sure whether I got a good deal or not, but I wanted to report that I just got Treasure Island for the Friday night of 1/20/12 for $55 + tax.Do you happen to know whether TI will charge me a resort fee on top of the $55 + tax I paid?Thank you.
thereuare Posted January 14, 2012 Report Posted January 14, 2012 Congratulations on your success! I think this is a very nice deal for this property, but unfortunately, there is indeed a resort fee (~$20/nite) which you'll need to pay directly to the hotel.Thank you for sharing your win with the board. lasvegasfunfunfun Posted January 14, 2012 Author Report Posted January 14, 2012 I guess I am a total newbie... It looks like TI is going to charge me another $20 resort fee so my room is actually $55 + tax + $20 = $89.40. It's pretty expensive for the room. Ugh :(I guess I live and learn.
lasvegasfunfunfun Posted January 14, 2012 Author Report Posted January 14, 2012 Hello - Even if I don't use any of the things that the resort fee covers, I still need to pay right?Just for my reference, how much does Tropicana charge as a resort fee?
AaronJB Posted January 14, 2012 Report Posted January 14, 2012 The resort fee is charged either way. The Tropicana charges $14.99, according to Expedia. Many properties in Vegas do charge a resort fee, unfortunately.
cbob8 Posted January 15, 2012 Report Posted January 15, 2012 Even with the resort fee, this is a pretty good rate for TI (I think a little better than what currently looks like TI on Hotwire), especially for a weekend night--- so you shouldn't be upset about this rate. I only know this b/c I'm going to be in Vegas that night, too. I know that TI is starting to ease up on the resort fees if you book direct with them, so hopefully, they'll get rid of them altogether eventually if enough people complain. If you complain about it at check-in they might try to tell you that everyone in Vegas charges one (not true, none of the Harrah's/Caesar's owned places do) or that city ordinance "requires" that they charge one (they tried to convince me of that when I stayed there last year). But for now, you're stuck with it. The Mexican restaurant and Tequila bar "Isla" has really good food for a pretty reasonable price.
