ngmg
Hi! I'm new to Priceline and have never been to New York or America for that matter so would really appreciate some help!I am looking for a double room arriving July 18th leaving July 24th. I am not fussy about what star rating as long as we stay in a safe area and would ideally like to be near Central Park if possible. We were going to stay in a hostel but it was fully booked. That was going to cost $100 per night so something around that price - no more than $120 if possible. Please could someone give me advice on how to bid. I m confused! :) ThanksNicki Link to comment
thereuare
Welcome to BetterBidding! What is your definition of a 'double room'? Does it simply have to accomodate two people are does that mean it has two beds?Would you be willing to SPLIT YOUR BID? ngmg
Sorry - British! One bed, two people. Would be happy to split my bid. Thanks Link to comment
thereuare
Hopefully that is $120/nite before taxes?First thing you need to know about is re-bidding which is explained here: PRICELINE RE-BIDDING EXPLAINED. At the 3* level you have one re-bid zone available, please read the previous link and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zone with the board before bidding.I would first select your complete dates (7/18-7/24):Select 3* MTW...Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $110, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 3* MTE...Bid $105, if rejected add UM/CPS...Bid $110, if rejected add MTW...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $120.If the above fails, i would repeat the process using the following dates:7/19-7/247/20-7/247/21-7/24Star with the above and we'll take it from there... any questions (such as re-bidding) feel free to ask.Good Luck and let us know how it goes. ngmg
I tried what you said but my bids were all rejected! Think I understand how to go about it now though so thanks for the help. Was just wondering what I should do next. Increase my maximum bid? Or would I have more chance if I selected a 2* in UWS / UES? I'm not planning on spending much time at all in the hotel so am reluctant to spend too much. Link to comment
dahammer
the problem with some 2* rooms is that the are so small you need to go outside to change your mind :) Using EasyClickTravel Travel Search, the Best Western is available for $119 Link to comment
thereuare
Whether you raise your bid or lower your star rating is a decision only you can make. Personally i would avoid a 2* hotel in NYC, but to each their own.Would staying in NJ be an option for part of your stay (a few areas have easy commutes into NYC).You should also check out EasyClickTravel which has a few 'hostel' type accomodations (shared baths) that are very cheap, if you're comfortable with those type of accomodations. They also have a few lower rated hotels that are sub-$100... i would try to read reviews of some of them and see if any would be satisfactory.Let us know and we'll try to advise as to best proceed and/or comment on an Easy Click hotel you find.
