Priceline Hotel: 4* New Orleans (Downtown) Sheraton New Orleans Hotel

First bid of $75 was rejected, got it for $80 by re-bidding with French Quarter+Downtown.

As an aside, hotels seem to be really outrageous that weekend...maybe it's the Super Bowl or pre-Mardi Gras festivities. Anyway, my travel plans were a little flexible--could arrive either Thurs or Fri. I always check Hotwire to get a ballpark idea on hotel prices before bidding, and found this:

4* Downtown 2 nights Fri-Sun: $166/night x 2 = $332

4* Downtown 3 nights Thurs-Sun: $95/night x 3 = $285

Ummm...yes I would like to save money and get a free night. Oh and both appeared to be the Sheraton based on the Hotwire lists, which is of course what I eventually wound up with, albeit at a better rate.

That's a nice rate for the Sheraton! It's the American Bar Association Midyear Meeting, so there will be over 3,000 lawyers in town that weekend. That Sheraton is the headquarters hotel so expect it to be swamped. I am staying next door thru a priceline win at the JW Marriott for those same dates.
