Just started with conservative bids:

Zones 1-2-3 (simultaneously)

4* $50x,

3.5* $45x,

Will go up as needed, but does

anyone know if there is bed-filling

major event that weekend for those zones?

Does one football game still leave lots

of vacancies in N.O.?

Hoping to snag 4* under $62, 3.5* under $55?

What public transportation is there between

these three zones other than taxi?

Does N.O. have bike sharing stations yet?

No bike-sharing, sorry. You can rent a bike, Bicycle Michael's is pretty convenient, jus two blocks outside the FQ.

Anything within the FQ, DT, CC districts is walkable in about a half hour, end-to-end. There's also decent public transit, including buses and streetcars, see www.norta.com for details.

Rates do look a bit on the high side for these dates, although not terrible. For a 4* in these zones, I think you're likely looking at around $75-85, with French Quarter requiring a moderately higher bid.

Thanks for info. Is that based on Hotwire prices? Is it possible to establish

typical difference between Hotwire offer vs. Priceline winning bid?

You can sometimes get a general feel of prices from HOTWIRE, but the problem in doing so is that each rates hotels differently... so the 4* hotel you see on HOTWIRE may only be 3.5* rated on PRICELINE, and therefore using the price of the 4* HOTWIRE hotel to determine what you would need to bid for a 4* hotel on PRICELINE would be flawed from the onset.
