rruiz2269 Posted June 8, 2005 Report Posted June 8, 2005 Looking to stay in Whistler one night, 6/18. Considering a 4* or 3.5* location. Hotwire shows two 4* hotels at $104 (seems to be the Westin Resort & Spa) & $113. The 3.5* is listed at $87. Any ideas which hotels the other two are?Does not seem I have any free rebid opportunities. Suggestions for bid strategy? Looking to stay below the Hotwire prices.
thereuare Posted June 8, 2005 Report Posted June 8, 2005 Please include all of the amenties on the hotels that you would like help identifying.Priceline does not offer 3.5* bidding... so are you willing ot bid 3* in Whistler or only 4 star? Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
rruiz2269 Posted June 8, 2005 Author Report Posted June 8, 2005 Not willing to bid a 3*, would prefer to stay with a 4*.The other 4* listing has the following amenties: (slopeside, 1 bedroom suite, kitchenette, restaurant(s), daily housekeeping, A/C, hi-speed internet, golf nearby, laundry facilities). Thanks for your help.
thereuare Posted June 8, 2005 Report Posted June 8, 2005 ... but you want to bid on priceline regardless of the likely id of the above hotels, no? Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
rruiz2269 Posted June 8, 2005 Author Report Posted June 8, 2005 Yes, I would like to bid on PL to see if I can get a better price than on Hotwire.Without any free rebid opportunities and with the date approaching quickly, any suggestions on what price range might land either one of these?Your help is appreciated.
thereuare Posted June 8, 2005 Report Posted June 8, 2005 I would try about $80 +/- $5 for a four star. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
rruiz2269 Posted June 8, 2005 Author Report Posted June 8, 2005 Will do. Thanks for the advice.I will follow-up with bidding results when I get them.
Scorp Posted June 8, 2005 Report Posted June 8, 2005 You might also try Resort level at about $90 or so, if you are interested in the Westin or similar property. I see that the Pan Pacific has a direct booking rate for a studio starting at $119 Cdn or about $95 US. I think that's a pretty good deal. Delta Village Suites is about the same. And the Westin's best rate (Internet only rate) is $219 Cdn or about $175 US. So, if Priceline doesn't work out, that Hotwire price of $104 looks pretty good, if it's the Westin. (I think it is, also.... but never want to say I'm positive on any HW hotel!!!)
Scorp Posted June 8, 2005 Report Posted June 8, 2005 Also, the 3.5* for $87 on Hotwire (with Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Spa, Kitchenette, Golf, Tennis) might be the Summit Lodge. Direct booking rates start at $100 US for your date. The Summit is a very nice property, but the Westin's rooms are larger and their kitchens are more complete. Also, be prepared to pay about $20 Cdn for parking at these properties.
rruiz2269 Posted June 9, 2005 Author Report Posted June 9, 2005 Thanks for all the info Scorp. I'm going to bid a resort at $90 and if unsuccessful I'll try a 4* at $85. If neither pans out, then I'll probably book the HW 4* at $104.
Scorp Posted June 10, 2005 Report Posted June 10, 2005 Also, gave you some info on the highway to Whistler in this thread.
rruiz2269 Posted June 14, 2005 Author Report Posted June 14, 2005 After unsuccessfully trying to bid a 4* hotel and/or resort on Priceline for a one night stay in Whistler, I was able to book the following:Whistler Westin Resort & SpaAmmmenities: Resort, Suite, Slopeside, Restaurant(s), Pool(s), Fitness Center, Spa Services, Kitchenette, Business Center, Laundry Facilities (self-service) Room Price: $103.00Taxes& Fees: $ 22.95Total Price: $125.95Booked using the SB link.
rruiz2269 Posted June 14, 2005 Author Report Posted June 14, 2005 Wasn't able to land a Whistler resort at $90 or 4* hotel for $85. Ended up booking the Hotwire listing at $103 (price dropped by $1) which indeed was the Westin Resort and Spa (see this thread).I'm sure we'll be more than happy with the accomodations for our first trip to Whistler. Thanks again Scorp and thereuare for your help.
thereuare Posted June 14, 2005 Report Posted June 14, 2005 Thank you for the amenity update (Slopeside is a new amenity associated with this hotel... somewhat new with Hotwire as well)Thank you for using the SB link to begin your purchase.Have a great stay. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
Scorp Posted June 14, 2005 Report Posted June 14, 2005 I'm pretty sure you'll enjoy the Westin. It's a fave of mine, having stayed there at least four times. I really like their rooms and the overall hotel ambience. Let us know how your trip goes!
