kcsunshine Posted October 10, 2011 Report Posted October 10, 2011 My dates are Oct 15 - 19. I'm trying to figure out/compare these:1) La Jolla - 4 Stars - $123. Restaurant, Golf and Tennis nearby, Fitness, Pool, High Speed Internet. Recomended by 90% of hotwire reviews. I think this might be the Hyatt.2) La Jolla - 3 Stars - $79. Breakfast, Laundry, High Speed, Pool. Recomended by 80%.3) La Jolla - 3.5 Stars - $119. Near Beach, Golf and Tennis nearby, Pool, High Speed, Restaurant. Fitness, non-smoking. No review rating.4) Mira Mesa - 3 Stars $88. The only thing listed is restaurant.5) Mira Mesa - 3.5 stars. $83. Laundry, Smoke Free, high Speed, Breakfast, pool, restaurant, fitness.I'm going to be visiting my son at UCSD. I have a room reserved at Estancia which is right across from his dorm. But, would like to see about saving some $$$. Thanks!
AaronJB Posted October 11, 2011 Report Posted October 11, 2011 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)I'm seeing a different 3* Mira Mesa; are you still seeing a listing w/only restaurant? The 3.5* Mira Mesa has not yet been ID'd/reported to the board. The 4* La Jolla has not yet been ID'd/reported to the board (my guess is that the Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines may be a possibility, but it could also be something else); the 3.5* La Jolla a possible match for the Hotel La Jolla at the Shores and 3* La Jolla a possible match for the Holiday Inn Express.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
kcsunshine Posted October 11, 2011 Author Report Posted October 11, 2011 Thanks!I might have written my notes wrong for Mira Mesa - sorry! What I currently see is3.5 for $83 with laundry, breakfast, pool, business center, restaurant, smoke free, HSI, Fitness. I wonder if maybe that is the Hyatt Summerfield Suites. the 3 star in Mira Mesa now shows $88 with Pool Restaurant and smoke free. Recomended by 95%
thereuare Posted October 11, 2011 Report Posted October 11, 2011 The 3.5* property has not yet been reported to the board, but i don't believe the Summerfield Suites has a Restaurant. My best guess for this property would the Embassy Suites. The 3* matches previous reports for the Country Inn and Suites. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know what you decide and how it goes or if we can be of further help. kcsunshine Posted October 11, 2011 Author Report Posted October 11, 2011 Thanks! The Mira Mesa Summerfield Suites does have a restaurant. It serves free breakfast in the morning and then converts to a bar/lounge where you can order food. I wasn't sure if hotline included Summerfield suites so I was a bit cautious. But, we've stayed at this one in Mira Mesa and that would be a good price if it is the Hyatt. I might give it a try today (using the board's list).I would love to be in La Jolla closer to UCSD but don't want to get the Sheraton or end up too far from campus. So, a bit nervous about trying one one of them.
JATR4 Posted October 11, 2011 Report Posted October 11, 2011 This Hyatt Summerfield is in Sorrento Mesa. I have a room there using priceline for 5 nights (Oct 18-23) at $40 per night for a total of $239.30. I have stayed there several times; it used to be the Woodfin Suites. The only hotels I have gotten when bidding on a 3* in the Sorrento Mesa area are the Hyatt Summerfield/Woodfin and the Country Inn and Suites, which is next door to the Hyatt--but on a different street. Both have breakfast and pools.
kcsunshine Posted November 5, 2011 Author Report Posted November 5, 2011 I ended up booking direct. I wanted to be sure to be within 5 - 10 minutes of campus so I could drive my son to/from his early morning practices so I decided not to try bidding. We are going back down to USSD in january so maybe I'll try again then.thanks!KC
