roblox84 Posted October 8, 2011 Report Posted October 8, 2011 Hi I was just wondering if my chances increase in winning a hotel later on in the day? I would like to get a hotel room in downtown cleveland for under 50 dollars (4 or 3 1/2 star) but i've been currently refused. So I was planning to wait a few hours and then try again, would this make any difference?
thereuare Posted October 9, 2011 Report Posted October 9, 2011 Welcome to BetterBidding! While anything is possible, and i'm sure you're thinking that the hotel is desperate at this point and will sell the room for almost nothing, this isn't how it typically works in reality... while most guests already have their plans confirmed and are not shopping at the last hour for a hotel room, the hotel is not likely to get that much incremental business by lowering their rates to fire sale prices. As well, their perspective of the situation is opposite your own, while you're thinking that they have an empty room they would otherwise like to fill... they're thinking that if you're in from out of town you have to stay somewhere tonite and don't yet have a room, which is why they're able to charge walk-in customers top rates, these guests need a place to stay and are not in a position to continue to shop around. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. hohogap Posted October 9, 2011 Report Posted October 9, 2011 Thanks for the great analysis and I appreciate the insight as I have often wondered the same thing (although generally have been too chicken to wait until the last minute hoping to book a great deal)!
roblox84 Posted October 9, 2011 Author Report Posted October 9, 2011 First tried 4* bidding up to 65 dollars with no luck. Then bid on the 3.5* starting at 40 and finally won at 65. Doubletree downtown cleveland. Stayed Oct.8-9
