AaronJB Posted September 24, 2011 Report Posted September 24, 2011 My guess would be Lodge at Torrey Pines.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
MBR Posted September 25, 2011 Author Report Posted September 25, 2011 I was hoping it would be Torrey Pines. It looks like a really nice hotel.....What fees / taxes does hotwire add on? For three nights @ $187, what can I expect my final bill to be?
AaronJB Posted September 25, 2011 Report Posted September 25, 2011 The fees/taxes are shown once you start the checkout process. Additionally, if you click "see details" on the listing to go to the detail page, then scroll down to the bottom of the page, there should be a "Know Before You Go" box, and if there is a resort fee, the *approximate* resort fee will be noted there. That fee will not be collected until check-in.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
MBR Posted September 26, 2011 Author Report Posted September 26, 2011 Thank you Aaron. This hotel looks fabulous, but is probably just out of our range. We are now considering our Priceline options for a 4*. Will start a new thread when I have it narrowed down....
thereuare Posted September 26, 2011 Report Posted September 26, 2011 Please just continue this thread, if you ultimately use PRICELINE we'll then move this entire thread to that section of the board. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Thanks. MBR Posted September 28, 2011 Author Report Posted September 28, 2011 There are no 4* downtown mission island or old town or gas lamp area hotels showing up on HOTWIRE for these days. In fact, if I go directly to some of the hotel websites, they are already showing no vacancy for Saturday night. There must be something going on in the city.....So if HOTWIRE show nothing with a 4* rating closer than La Jolla, will PRICELINE have anything? We want something touristy near restaurant and shopping downtown. Thinking of $100 max Priceline bid for a 4*. Am I being unrealistic?
thereuare Posted September 28, 2011 Report Posted September 28, 2011 So if HOTWIRE show nothing with a 4* rating closer than La Jolla, will PRICELINE have anything?Possibly... but the chances are reduced somewhat. Each service has their own inventory and works with their own universe of hotels, so what is offered on one site may not be what is offered on another site. As well, each service may rate the same hotel differently, so while service may show a 3.5* as available, that hotel may be 3*, 3.5*, or 4* rated on another service.Thinking of $100 max Priceline bid for a 4*. Am I being unrealistic?Difficult to say, but it may very well not be realistic given many hotels are sold-out for at least one nite of your stay... what is the best rate you're able to find at an acceptable hotel thru conveniontal booking channels? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
