shanx Posted September 21, 2011 Report Posted September 21, 2011 Hey everyone, I used the HOTWIRE link and am looking to book a room in San Diego around the Gaslamp area from 10/27-10/30.It's giving me $123/night for a 4* in Gaslamp Quarter North - Horton Plaza area hotel. Amenities are as follows:smoke free roomsfitness centerpoolrestaurantsbusiness centerhigh speed internet accessAm I correct in thinking that this is the Westin Gaslamp?one other detail if it helps - it is recommended in 90% of hotwire customer reviews
thereuare Posted September 21, 2011 Report Posted September 21, 2011 Welcome to BetterBidding! The above is a match for the Westin Gaslamp Quarter so that would be my best guess for this one too. Thanks for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board.Let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help. shanx Posted September 22, 2011 Author Report Posted September 22, 2011 Thanks for the response. I am still trying to decide between hotels on priceline and hotwire. My dates of 10/27-10/30 are firm, and I know that I want to stay in the Gaslamp area. Every 4* hotel on the priceline list is fine with me except for the Sheraton Hotel and Marina, which I absolutely do not want to stay at due to distance (don't want to drive anywhere once I'm in the Gaslamp area). While there isn't a complete overlap between the 4* hotels on hotwire and priceline, I see that all of the Gaslamp south hotels are unavailable from hotwire on those dates. Therefore, I'm somewhat afraid that most of the hotels aside from the Sheraton are booked on priceline as well. I checked the calendar of wins and someone posted that they have the Sheraton on 10/29, which doesn't seem to bode well. Hotwire is offering the Westin for $124 a night, but I'm tempted to try priceline because I'm seeing people get the Omni for $86 on other weekends. Obviously it's different due to different dates, but it's still tempting. Any thoughts? Should I just play it safe and go with the Westin on hotwire, or try my luck with priceline? Thanks for the help!
thereuare Posted September 22, 2011 Report Posted September 22, 2011 ...except for the Sheraton Hotel and Marina, which I absolutely do not want to stay at...This statement makes HOTWIRE the better option for you for this stay... it may cost a little more than PRICELINE, but given their service divides the 'downtown' area into 3 separate zones, and this zone does not include the area by the Sheraton, it will ensure that you get the location you want for this trip. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
