Priceline Hotel: 4* Minneapolis-St Paul (Downtown Minneapolis) Hilton

Hi - I've had great success in the past with getting a 4* in downtown Minneapolis for around $50 per night (usually the Hyatt - sometimes Hilton). However I bid today starting at $50 and went all the way up to $95 using free rebids.

The Twins are in town, but they stink. I've gone during Twins home weekends before (when they were in a pennant race) and still paid $50. The Vikings are in town, but they play Sunday 9/18. I'm checking out Saturday 9/18. Would that affect things? Retail prices seem high for this weekend and I can't figure out why. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Please read the PRICELINE FAQ regarding timing.

Rates do vary seasonally, and/or there could be conventions or other events going on during these dates. HOTWIRE does have a 4* in the downtown area at $112, so there are options not far above where you've bid up to - and you may be getting close to a win on PRICELINE.

Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

I think you hit on the problem in your post...twins and vikings in town the same weekend. Plus there are always events and things in the city.

Consider bloomington. There is a huge hotel market down there and rates are always cheap. If you bid for the holiday inn its right accross the street from the commuter train and that takes you downtown.

I would look at Blooming West or MOA area.... as the previous post said that area always has hotels open..... The Bloomington West Double Tree is very nice.... I would say more than 3.5* closer to 4* but that's just me. The MOA area is nice because you can be one of the first on the lightrail and sit the entire way to the game.

Thanks for your advice, but I need to be downtown. I'm local (suburb) and I have family coming in to "stay in the big city." :)

MOA isn't any closer to downtown than my house. If I wanted them to stay at my house..... LOL

The Hilton's been reported with those icons and the 4/5 TripAdvisor rating matches Hilton; so the Hilton would be my best guess.

If you purchase please use this HOTWIRE link and let us know what you get.

I believe it was. But I ended up booking on Priceline (and saved $9 per night at the Hilton). I will update my other thread in the priceline forum. Thanks!

Won Priceline Bid 9/15 - 9/17. 2 nights, 2 rooms. $95 per room.

Total $441 w/ taxes and fees.

Not thrilled, but I'm confident I exhausted all options.

Was rejected up to $95 on Tuesday - got counter offer of $114 and said no. Tried again today (Thursday) and got counter at $102 (with $89 bid). Rebid in $2 increments up to $95.

This hotel was on Hotwire for $104 per night for these dates (as identified by BB mods).

Thanks everyone! It was a hard fought battle.
