ricky ross Posted August 30, 2011 Author Report Posted August 30, 2011 and I apologize, it's actually for the 4th that I need it
thereuare Posted August 31, 2011 Report Posted August 31, 2011 Are you willing to pay more for a 4* vs. a 3.5* OR is your goal the least expensive 3.5* or better for this stay?At the 4* level are you ok with MTE, MTW, CPS, TS and ESB? Any other zones you want to include? At the 3.5* which zone(s), by PRICELINE name, do you want to include? Note that at 3.5* and under in the MTE zone there are some known hotels which can be up to a 15 minute walk to the subway, and in the CPS zone is the Hudson Hotel which has notoriously small rooms... are either/both of these scenarios acceptable? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know the above and we'll take it from there. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. ricky ross Posted August 31, 2011 Author Report Posted August 31, 2011 I want the best room I can get for around 150 for either this Saturday or sunday. I need to be close to bars and lounges so I'm thinking midtown or times square
thereuare Posted August 31, 2011 Report Posted August 31, 2011 Sunday will likely be the cheaper of the two days so for 9/4 i'd start with the following:At the 4* level you have FIVE re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 4* MTE, MTW, TS and ESB...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $120, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* CSP...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $120, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* MTE, MTW, TS, ESB and CPS...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $150Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. ricky ross Posted August 31, 2011 Author Report Posted August 31, 2011 great info, thanks, but how do i know what the re-bid zones ARE?
hohogap Posted August 31, 2011 Report Posted August 31, 2011 great info, thanks, but how do i know what the re-bid zones ARE?Click on "Priceline Re-Bidding Explained" link in the previous post by thereuare.
thereuare Posted August 31, 2011 Report Posted August 31, 2011 If you're still confused by re-bidding try this exercise:1) Use the PRICELINE search box on the upper right of this page, enter 'New York City' and your dates, and click "GO".2) List each zone that is offered in this region. 3) Next to each zone list the highest star rating offered in the zone. The way to determine the highest star rating offered in the zone is by selecting the first zone i the list, then scrolling down to see the highest star rating selectable (ie- not greyed out). NEXT UNcheck the selected zone, place a checkmark in the next zone, and repeat the process for each zone in the region. Each time you take note of the highest star rating in the zone, make sure that only ONE zone is selected above.4) post your findings and we'll take it from thereIf you don't follow the above just post back and we'll break it down further. AaronJB Posted September 2, 2011 Report Posted September 2, 2011 Congrats on your success. :)I'm surprised a $130 bid was accepted - the hotel's lowest rate on Expedia is $296; certainly a very good deal!Thank you for sharing your win and please use the site's PRICELINE or HOTWIRE links to start your purchases and searches.Enjoy your stay.
AaronJB Posted September 2, 2011 Report Posted September 2, 2011 Did you bid on 3.5* or 4*?This is a 4* property.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
